On another note... When there is snow in the streets, you really get to see how much dog piss is out there. My entire neighborhood is covered in yellow snow.

Speaking of... For some reason a lot of dog owners seem to believe that snow will magically make their dog crap disappear, and so decide to just leave it there. This makes for nice surprise #### mines or #### slurpees later.

For like a two week stretch last month, there was a new dog #### on my block almost daily.

It got to the point where I was basically following every dog owner walking with their dog on my block and just watching them, not discrete at all, obnoxiously watching. I've got it narrowed down to 3 people, but as of now there hasn't been poop on the block in a few weeks.

If I actually caught the person in the act, I'm walking right up to them, taking a picture of them on my phone, and posting it everywhere in my neighborhood.

The penalties for not curbing a dog should be much more severe:

1st offense - $1,000

2nd offense - $5,000

3rd offense - $10,000 and 500 hours community service

4th offense - death penalty

Why don't people just let them poop in their own yards?

One friend of mine who lives in pleasantville was on the train behind. Have not heard from another friend who lives in Valhalla.
I hope your friend is ok, nick.

I'm sure there have been, but I haven't caught the news- any updates on exactly why the woman was between the gates?

again- I got the impression that it was stop and go traffic on that road and that maybe she just kept going instead of leaving the tracks clear (even though there wasn't any train or warning probably when she made the decision)... like blocking the box in an intersection.

either way- that, or making a run for it when the lights were flashing... just a cataclysmically terrible, terrible decision.

Sometimes I walk around Gramercy Park and the whole place smells like Intense Dog Piss....

Kinda ruins the whole beautiful picture....

anybody else notice this, or just me?

it's like dog owners get the impression that snow-weather parking rules forgiveness also means picking up your dog's poop forgiveness.

The news this morning said she was stopped on the tracks, the gate came down, she got out to see what hit her car, realized what was happening and then went forward instead of backing up. Apparently that's from the driver in the car behind her. Something seems amiss with the timing there though, so I'm not sure it's entirely accurate either.

yeah- heard the same story from the guy behind her.

I'm trying to figure out why/how she was stopped on the tracks in the first place.

Great news. Enough heartache here already.

Thanks for the reminder. Made my reservation just now in Brooklyn!
Where in Brooklyn?

With the progress of Opentable, you really need to get ahead of this stuff... Things are booked over a month in advance, kinda crazy.
Colonia Verde in Fort Greene. We like to stay close to home because of the kid and most Brooklyn restaurants we like don't take reservations. This place is fairly new and gets good marks so I'm happy to try it out.
So because I'm having a totally jinxed 2015 so far, my reservation is canceled because the restaurant had a fire and is now closed for a few weeks. Sorry to the owners there, I shouldn't have shared my luck with you.

What are the odds of finding a reservation now for V.D.? Ooof.

Miami, business trip...

Basically had about 2 hours worth of work stuff to do and 4 days of beach/pool.

Heading back tonight :kicksrock:

Wife sent me this picture; http://i.imgur.com/bTLoe3N.jpg
:excited:

I walk past that every day.
oh... I ride past that every day- never noticed. too busy avoiding dying (I got doored last week on that block)
Hopped off the M42 bus earlier this week and took about two steps before I realized I left my laptop bag on the bench seat (6:30 a.m., half empty bus). Bus was long gone and no cabs in sight. So I hoofed it over to Port Authority and reported it. They have a dispatch guy there loading the bus, he questioned each bus driver. "Dude, it was an Asian bus driver...how many of those you got?" 'Two. Beard or no beard?' "No beard" So they figure out which bus no beard Asian guy is driving and radio him. No bag. AYFKM? This is like a half hour after I left my bag in the bus.

Six week old MacBook Air in there. FMTT. Locked through the findmyiPhone app.

I was bummed out all day. When I got home my doorman stopped me. "Mr. Layne, some guy dropped this off earlier", handed me back my bag, all contents safe and sound.

Good job, NYC samaritan.

A lot of good samaritans in the city... I'd say the odds are prob 1 in 3ish to get a call or returned item.

Coworker left his wallet in a cab a few weeks ago... Got a call an hour later and picked it up. Offered the guy money and he refused.

So, you know how they say don't leave your cell phone on the bar, even for a second?

Well, yesterday I am at Parker & Quinn on 39th sitting next to this guy who's getting ready to leave. I'm throwing some purely awesome game to Annette, the bartender (makes a better whiskey rocks than gimlet fwiw, but prob the fault of whoever made the lime juice). As I was just getting there wanted to take off my sport coat so I, literally for a few seconds, put down my phone, and turned around to put the coat on my chairback.

Turn back around - BOOM. No phone. Now, I am one to panic first and then reasonably search after. So, all in a panic but I know it's likely in one of my twelve pockets. Except, it's not. Now, this guy was a young professional, not at all the type to even worry about and GONE. Phone is simply not there and I realize that in that split second it was taken.

About 2 min later with me like, wtf to myself, guy comes back in. We had the same damn color phone holder for the 5s and he took it thinking it was his, while he already had his in a pocket. Phew.

I hear ya. Appreciate the (over) enthusiasm, but no need to get divorced over this.

Who wants (free) ticket to Monday's Isles - Rags game on the Island? I can provide transport to/from train if someones coming from the City.

Meeting the wife after work and then doing Il Mulino for VDay in Soho... I'll be sure to get a drink in your friends honor Koya.

Left JFK at 2 degrees and 5:30 am. Arrived to 84 and a nice breeze here in PR.

God I needed this break. FCKU WINTER.
