NFL and NFLPA to begin HGH testing... (1 Viewer)

gregaiello Greg Aiello

Congressmen Issa + Cummings announce NFL-NFLPA to begin HGH testing ASAP...should start as early next week. lockerz.com/s/147051861

Who gives a flying ####.

These athletes are paid to be freaks of nature. We DEMAND faster, stronger, more agile...

Well, HGH baby!

I don't see how they can do this.
Because all the other sports do, why not the NFL?
doesn't the NFL trainers do all sorts of injections to get back in the game?
These injections are pain-killers, not steroids.
The line is quite bluury. Cortisone, which is a very popular pain killing injection is a steroid.
I believe this is gonna be a back door for many players to escape any issues.

Bye bye Thomas jones.

Easy to spot these guys. If the head is larger than it was after age 18 there you go. Barry bonds was the most obvious example.

I'm honestly surprised how people can say "let the players have HGH and Steroids" then turn around and say we need more protection against concussions. Idiots.

And good! I'm glad they're testing. Last thing I need is my son, who is a physical freak of nature himself, feel he needs to inject himself with artificial drugs in order to compete at the NFL or College level. If the NFL endorsed the use of HGH, they would be held responsible for influencing the sports youth into doing drugs. I doubt that is the image they want to portray, and thus, should begin testing ASAP.

I read an article on Wikipedia and it told me that nobody really knows for sure what if any advantages an HGH regimine would bestow on a professional athlete.

According to this NYT article, only 8 professional athletes have ever tested positive for HGH. So either the usage isn't pervasive, or it's easy to avoid testing positive. Either way that leads me to assume this won't make big waves in the NFL.

There's no way Nahgomadong Suh isn't on something. Just look at him. But it's probably easy enough to hide usage of some substances.

I think i read that the test only catches someone who has taken HGH within 24 hours prior to the test. And if it like the current drug testing you get a month's notice of when the test is. Only the dumbest of dumb will get caught.

In the Olympics they just walk up to people at random at any time of the day or night and you give blood or its considered a positive test. They also test the winners right after the specific competition is over.

I doubt it. Looking at him he looks pretty proportionally correct. Plus I doubt the guys that were using were still doing so with the high likeliness that they were going to test day one, so his stats would already be suffering like Clay Matthews.

It helps older players more. Its main benefit is in speeding the time of healing injuries.

Is that all?I thought it allowed players to add a bunch more muscle faster.

No, it has minimal, if any, advantage for muscle gaining purposes. As others have said, it helps promote some faster healing and it does help with fatloss.

I understand the relationship between drug use in professional sports and the perceptions of the youth. However, the cost of HGH is high and hard to come by. Also, the use of steroids has been prevalent in the NFL since the 1960s. While this was not publicly known until more recently, it still changes the perceptions that many have had of sports in general. Therefore, history supports the notion that kids in college and the pros will take drugs to get ahead, with or without the influence they experienced in youth sports. This is not a justification for drug use, but does show the inevitability of drug use since testing always seems to be chasing the users rather than being ahead of them.

Good post. It has shown to be largely ineffective, although it is still good that they are implementing it.

HGH is almost useless for building muscle if not used in conjunction with testosterone and some other steroids. If used by itself its only good for increasing healing time . Ive used it with EQ and anavar and i didnt notice any real results(although it IS dose related and VERY expensive ) but i have a friend who competes in bodybuilding and he is a freak...hes been using it for 7 years i believe , but he also uses test and told me thats the only way to get the most out of HGH . I will say that one side effect i hated was my fingers ALWAYS felt numb...it would wake me up in the middle of the night ...drove me crazy...i wont ever use it again as it just wasnt worth it results wise.

Not blurry at all...one kind of steroid enhances performance, the others don't...Anabolic steroids = not permittedOther steroids = permittedIf you look at the NFL banned substance list, it specifies which anabolic steroids are banned. HGH is already on that list actually, as of 2009...I guess they're now actually going to test for it.

so because one type of steroid is banned and the other isnt the one that isnt banned doesnt help performance? If your in pain and you take a shot to relieve the pain so you can play better , that isnt doing the same thing that anabolic steroids are doing ? Guess what...your wrong...the only reason steroids are banned is because it supposably gives one guy an advantage over another guy...playing pain free while the other guy is in pain is an advantage

Come on, you have to realize that they're two completely different substances, with completely different effects. Anabolic steroids can make you bigger, stronger, and more aggressive than you normally would be, while pain injections simply allow you to function normally, or closer to it. You say the injections can make you "play better"...they won't make you better than you normally would be. The key word in performance enhancing drugs is "enhancing", pain injections don't "enhance" your performance, they allow you to play through painBTW, supposably isn't a word

My elementary school was all about the Three R's (reading, riting, and spelling)
