What people are missing is that Vick WAS in the NFL last year so his opportunity was last year not this year.
I think if Vick came back and played at the same level as he had in the past, then I would agree with you, but he's playing at a level not many QBs have ever reached. Again it depends if he keeps it up all year, but I don't see how they deny him the award if he does.
Exactly. He served his time for the crime he committed. As far as I know, they let him back in the league 100%, they didn't let him back in the league with the condition that he's not eligible to win awards. To make a comparison, if the Eagles, win the Superbowl this year, would you deny him eligibility for a Superbowl ring because of his past crimes? If not, why would you deny him Comeback Player for the same reason?
I couldn't give a rat's ### what Vick did/does. Yeah he paid his debt (blah blah blah). Sorry but he didn't have a choice. If he had I'm sure he'd have rather not paid his debt.Excuse me while I get the Ben Roethlisberger for 2011 CPOTY bandwagon rolling. I guess last year's adversity for Vick was riding the pine. What a sad situation to be in. I feel for Mike Vick. The guy has played what 50% of his team's games?

Whether or not he had a choice about it is irrelevant. The facts are that he was allowed back in the league, and not on the condition that he can't be eligible for awards. Yeah sure he's a scumbag (blah blah blah), but that doesn't make him any less of a CPOTY candidate.

He was in the NFL last year. He rode the bench. How hard is it to be better than a bench warmer? For the record I never said he shouldn't be eligible for awards I said he shouldn't be eligible for this one. Plaxico Burress for CPOTY 2012!

What did he come back from in 2010? The bench?

Ummm... yes? The definition of qualifying for the award that was posted on the last page includes poor performance from the previous year. Riding the bench would count as that, IMO. How is going from riding the bench last year to what he's doing so far this year not worthy of the award?

This is a one horse race. Your average fan doesn't even know that BMW is back in the league. The Seahawks aren't a sexy team and will continue to get zero national exposure this year.

And BMW's numbers aren't even that impressive. He's on pace for 82-969-2 which is nice but comes nowhere near as close to what Vick is doing.
Is this a fan voted award?

Could you grab at another straw? Have his babies and get it over with but a dog is out as the family pet. How could he have a bad yaear when he rarely saw the field? FAIL!

The comeback player of the year is BMW. He was a fat, lazy bust who looks great after years of doing nothing.

Vick is a greatly improved player who was only out of the NFL due to his own mistake. I cannot believe anyone voted for Vick. He served his time for his crime but he is still an idiot. I do not reward people that make really dumb decisions.
Hear that, Vick? You might as well go roll over and die somewhere. You're not allowed to have any good happen to you anymore. The NFL should make his touchdowns only worth 5 points.
Wow. Someone seems to have a little Vick bromance going on. Who said anything about Vick not allowed to have anything good happen to him? Why are we trying to diminish his TDs? Do you read what other folks write or just make stuff up so you have something to reply to? I cannot call Vick a comeback player. He was a good player that was on the path to greatness had he not made some really awful decisions. He always had the talent. The only reason he is coming back is because he had to leave the NFL to go to prison due to his own decisions.

For the record, I like what Vick is doing. I would love to see Philly win the SB and I am not a Philly fan. I like watching Vick and that Eagles O.

So being a fat lazy NFL WR isn't a really dumb decision?

Sorry but this doesnt make sense. Being a good player, having a bad year or years, then being good again in a subsequent year is the very definition of "coming back." That's why they call it a comeback. It's because you used to be good at some point in the past.Besides, BMW got fat and lazy due to his own decisions as well. How is he any more or less eligible?

I wouldn't call it a bromance, but he is on my keeper team and will probably be kept for the next two seasons. Maybe a little bromance. I was just exaggerating a little to make a point, and only addressing the post I quoted. The "I cannot believe anyone voted for Vick" part and the "I do not reward people who make dumb decisions" part makes you seem like you're on a bit of high horse. And others have pointed out that BMW also made dumb decisions and put himself in the situation he was in, I guess not so dumb that you wouldn't reward him, though.

For me, Vick is the easy choice. However, in any other year, I think Lloyd and BMW would be at the top of the list. For those of you mentioning Hillis, I look at him more as a breakout player than a comeback player. I know it's a fine distinction, and the same argument could be made a against Lloyd and BMW, but it just seems intuitively different to me. I don't really feel like explaining the difference, though, it's more just a gut reaction. As for LT, I don't think last year was bad enough for him to be in the discussion. Sure, he looks rejuvenated, but the guy did score 12 TDs last season. I don't care what his other numbers looked like. He doesn't belong in the discussion.

One guy I'm not sure has been mentioned, but absolutely should be mentioned, is Dwayne Bowe.

VICK? Comeback award...bahahahah

Gee, we..the NFL, are going to award you for not killing any more dogs. In fact, Roger Goodell is now proud of you for not killing any more dogs and getting your life straight. Here's your award Mr Vick, thanks for coming back. You get the award because of your exceptional talent on the field. Oh...and thanks for not getting into any more trouble, here's a treat.

Vick is a good story, but IMO Mike Williams is an even better story. Did anyone even expect this guy to see the field again? By the way, Peter King says his pick is EJ Henderson. WTF
