[edited the subtitle to open the discussion to value drops as well as gains]
A lot of the discussion is naturally focused on how the incoming rookies' value changes now that we know where they'll be playing, but I'm intrigued by how the draft will affect guys who are already in the league. I haven't seen a thread gathering up this type of discussion, so I thought I'd start one.
A couple of guys were obvious beneficiaries of the draft:
Frank Gore got a couple of first-round blockers in T Anthony Davis at 1.11 and Mike Iupati at 1.17. The 49ers also avoided taking an RB in the early rounds, though they did grab Anthony Dixon at 6.04 and grabbed an UDFA with some talent in LeGarette Blount. Overall this looks like a very nice bump in value for Gore.
Carson Palmer should be thrilled with the addition of Jermaine Gresham (1.21), Jordan Shipley (3.20), and possibly Dezmon Briscoe (6.22). As a Longhorns fan I've seen plenty of Shipley and Gresham, and think they will both make major impacts on the Bengals passing offense. I'm not sure either will put up outstanding fantasy numbers themselves, but they should both be quality pros who make Carson's job easier and improve the overall outlook of this passing game. Gresham is a major talent and will affect linebacker and safety play if nothing else, and Shipley is a Quarterback's dream out of the slot.
A couple of guys who I'm familiar with all received value bumps from a series of trades involving Seattle:
Leon Washington still has to answer questions about his leg, but there's no doubt he'll have more immediate opportunity in SEA than in the crowded Jets backfield.
LenDale White sounds as if he'll get a shot to be 1a in the Seahawks backfield. Whatever you think of his potential production in that role, he gets a solid bump due to the situation.
Javon Ringer gets a bump as the new backup to the heavily-used Chris Johnson.
These are some of the names that jumped out at me, but I'd be interested in hearing about any other veterans who've seen their value affected by additions, subtractions or just inaction. Thoughts?
