Here are 5 of my faves

- In 2010, the Chargers had the most yards on offense and gave up the least yards on defense... and didn't make the playoffs
- The only quarterback drafted by the Broncos that won a playoff game for them was Tim Tebow
- For 4 years in a row, the #1 overall pick TIED a game before they WON a game.
  • 2017 - Myles Garrett started 0-17-1 before winning a game
  • 2018 - Baker Mayfield started 0-1-1 before winning a game
  • 2019 - Kyler Murray started 0-3-1 before winning a game
  • 2020 - Joe Burrow started 0-2-1 before winning a game
- In 2014 the Chiefs threw zero touchdowns to wide receivers
- QB Josh Allen was the 7th pick of the 2018 draft. LB Josh Allen was the 7th pick of the 2019 draft.

*The Manning bro's have the exact same playoff QB rating of 87.4

*Tom Brady has the second most RECEIVING yards of any NFL player over 40.

*Brett Favre was the first and I believe only known NFL player to be a grandfather while still active

*Dan Marino went 759 pass attempts and 19 games without getting sacked one single time.

*in 2002 the Steeler had 24 first downs to the Texans 3, outgained the Texans in yardage 422 to 47, and still lost 24-6.

*The Bears were founded in 1920 and the Jets were founded in 1959. They have a total of one 4,000 yard passing season by a QB, by Joe Namath in 1967. (it's been done 16X over the last 2 seasons for context)

*Tim Tebow is the only QB the Broncos ever drafted to win a playoff game for them. All their SB wins have been with QB's originally drafted by the Colts.

*The Eagles have an 18-0 all time record against the Jets and Houston Texans

Insane stuff! I reformulated some of these into a little trick riddle:

"Take these numbers:

• The number of TD passes thrown to WR's for the 2014 Chiefs
• The number of wins by the teams that drafted the #1 pick in each of 2017, '18, '19, and '20 before those teams tied a game
• The number of teams in 2010 that had more offensive yards than the Chargers, and the number of teams that gave up fewer yards on defense than the Chargers (note that the Chargers were not a playoff team)

Give your best ballpark guesstimate of the sum of those seven different numbers."

I remember watching this game, David Carr was abysmal. He completed a grand total of 3 passes. Offensive line was really bad sure but the Steelers only had 4 sacks in the game. Carr just couldn’t do anything (didn’t help that he had little help on offense, Andre wasn’t drafted until the following year.) Steelers coughed up the ball 5 times, one was a fumble returned for a TD and (now coach) Aaron Glenn had not one, but two Pick 6’s of like 70+ yards.

Eagles lost to the Jets in 2023.

Yo Murphy is the only football player to play in the XFL championship game, the Super Bowl, and the Grey Cup.

Robert Edwards (the Patriots running back who got hurt at a Pro Bowl flag football game and nearly had his leg amputated) ended up having multiple 1000-yard seasons in the CFL after the injury.

The Jaguars are the only team to have never had a tie.

The Packers have started 34 quarterbacks since 1950. The Browns have started 35 since 2004.

Buccaneers fun facts:

The Buccaneers could have eight straight undefeated regular seasons and still have a losing record overall.

The Buccaneers current all-time leading rusher totaled fewer than 6,000 yards.

In three seasons, Tom Brady has the 3rd-most yards in team history (less than 200 away from 2nd) and has the 2nd-most touchdowns in team history.

Among quarterbacks with at least 150 attempts, Brady is second all-time on the team in terms of both completion percentage and passer rating. Baker Mayfield ranks first in both categories.

The Texans are the only team that has not beaten every other team at least once (not counting preseason.) Eagles are 6-0 all-time against the Texans. The Vikings are also 6-0. They only play each other once every 4 years so the Texans next chance is 2026 for the Eagles and all the way in 2028 for the Vikings (assuming they don’t face-off in a SB before those seasons.)

Ha, no, not a closet pooper, he was just giving me a tour of his house, a very extensive tour.
Speaking of closet pooper, Bill Belichick awarded the game ball to LB Larry Izzo for pooping on the sideline

● The Philadelphia Eagles joined the league in 1933....not really a fun fact but......

● Philadelphia hosted the 1st ever Official college selection meeting.....The NFL Draft......in 1933.

● Philadelphia also had the 1st overall pick in 1933.

● Philadelphia's 1st pick in 1933 was RB Jay Berwanger out of Chicago.....he refused to sign with them, his rights were traded, and he never played a down in the NFL.

GO BIRDS !!!

Back when the Maroons were still in the Big Ten.

I came here to write that Jim Plunket is the only multi-Super Bowl Winning QB to not be in the hall, but then remembered Eli Manning is the other.

As a Raiders fan, I’m not sure if that helps or hurts Plunket’s case. ;)

2 Archie's, one is the only person with
2 Heismans, the other is the only person with
2 Super Bowl-winning sons (and they each have
2).

Just spaced it out so the 2's would line up.

ETA: Sorry, this includes college football facts, not just NFL.

Another one which is unfortunately a college fact.
Stanford and Syracuse both have nearly identically shaped block-S logos, and their team names are the only names to my knowledge that are nothing more than a singular color. (Yeah the Cardinal are named after the color.)

Percy Howard has a total of 1 catch in his entire career, and it was a TD in SB10. This fact wouldn't be all that cool, until you realize Howard was a WR.

In 2020, Josh Allen threw for exactly 4000 yards in his first 14 games - with exactly 2K in the first half of games and 2K in the 2nd half.

Doug Martin spent 6 years with the Bucs. In each of those 6 years, he either finished in the 1,400s or 400s in rushing yards.

Has anyone mentioned the crazy one from last year, when Josh Allen threw a TD pass that was caught by Amari Cooper, who then pitched it back to him & he took it in for a receiving TD (without getting a catch)?

This play is officially scored as a Josh Allen passing touchdown to Josh Allen. Allen also received credit for 7 receiving yards on the play. He is one of the few quarterbacks in NFL history to have a receiving touchdown on a pass he threw, and the first since Marcus Mariota in 2017. The touchdown occurred during a game against the San Francisco 49ers on December 1, 2024

That was wild.

Maybe '36 was the first time it was called a "draft" but, the first time there was an actual OFFICIAL NFL meeting to select college players was '33. Prior to that, teams that could not afford a bidding war with wealthier teams had zero chance of signing the better college players. The whole reason for a selection meeting was to give the those teams a fair chance to improve their rosters without the threat of a wealthier team swooping in and offering more money.

I am 100% sure the first official NFL collegiate selection meeting was 1933.

As there was no TV coverage then. The teams just met in a conference room and picked that way.

Ok. So you listened to it on the radio instead.
