NFL Rule changes for '07 (1 Viewer)

This is a spinoff of another thread.

I'd like to see the rule changed that with less than 2 minutes to go in a game, any offensive penalty results in a 10 second runoff.

I also think that a "football move" must happen to cause someone to be down by contact. How many times have you seen someone recover a football on a fumble or interception and the player be ruled down by contact because while he was down, he was inadvertantly contacted by the opposition with a leg or back.

This drives me crazy! Let the guys play and determine the outcome by something besides rolling into a guy who recoved a fumble while on the ground.

Others?

Instant replay for Pass Intereference. Single most devastating penalty in the game is a judgement call at full speed. One bad call can single handedly destroy a game.

Gotta disagree with you on the contact. Contact is contact.

I have to disagree with this one. It would just add an element of danger that just wouldn't be worth the added benefit.

OK, I'll bite.

Troy Brown gets a taunting penalty for flipping the ball over his shoulder on the way back to the huddle (yes, Troy Brown called for taunting). TO gets a taunting penalty for laying down in the endzone. Blah, blah, blah blah blah...

While every damn defensive player that makes a play he's supposed to make anyway celebrates in the other guy's face, or standing over him, and this is not taunting. WTF?! How about a rule that prohibits celebrations on the opponents side of the line of scrimmage (including those newly established). That would address the vast majority of taunting that goes on in the game. The WR stuff is showboating, not taunting, and the rule is obviously not intended to stop the real taunting that goes on in the game. Has a defensive player never stopped someone for no gain before? Wow. Nice play dude. What's your name again???

LMAO at the officials that sprint over to a WR after they score to stare them down with their hand on the flag...

I see it as allowing a guy to get some glory for making a good play on defense. Example...2 guys go up for a ball, defender makes an INT and falls down. While going to the ground, the WR also falls and his shoe lands on the defenders leg. I think they should allow the play to continue. Really, either way, if it were the WR who caught it in this scenario.Just my $0.02

Brown's penalty was unfortunate. Just like Harrison's on the TD. It was only called because the ball happened to hit a defender.Silly!I do think showboating is taunting however. I'd love for TO to score in Indy and run to the horseshoe to showboat. Then Bob Sanders to knock him on his ###!

I still love the image of TO getting drilled on the star...

id eliminate the celebration penalties unless the celebration includes any of the following

1) phsyical contact with an opponent

2) mocking the opponents field (standing on dallas star) or fans (randy moss fake moon)

3) Use of non-football props (sharpee, cell phone)

4) no celebrating on non-scoring plays (those morons who celebrate every time they catch a ball drive me insane.)

stuff like TO napping on the ball and pretty much anything chad johnson does are fun. They dont hurt anyone. Alot of fans enjoy it and it lets the players show their personality. The defensive players dont mind, because they know it isnt meant to mock them.

As a jets fan, id like to see the forceout be reviewable. that call against cleveland was just plain awful. Also, lighten up on the roughing the QB penalties. Now, i dont want to see star QB's getting power bombed, but let the D do their job. A defender shouldnt be penalized for tackling a QB too hard. Its their job.
