NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

If there is any truth to the rumor of the B's talking to the Yotes about the No. 3 pick, I wonder if Savard (!) could be in play as well. He still has a $4M+ cap hit for a team that might be struggling to reach the salary floor.

I'm not sure I would be willing to deal Hamilton for the potential of a Hanifin, although i believe he's going to be tremendous -- all of the comps I've gotten have been "Duncan Keith". Hamilton's contract situation could be the tipping point, however.

:lmao: if the Bruins give up Hamilton for the #3 pick.

Kessel ---> Seguin & Hamilton ---> Ericsson, R.Smith, and Hanifin?

really getting things done up there.

Talbot for one. He seems to have shown more to this point than Lehner. Martin Jones seems like a potential #1 but obviously doesn't have much of a track record yet either.
Talbot is not young, and has 1 year before becoming a UFA. He also put up his numbers playing on one of the elite teams in the league.
 Goalies take longer to develop so I tend to categorize them as "young" longer than I would a forward, but I take your point.
While the numbers Talbot put up are obviously not sustainable long term, his overall play wasn't a fluke and it wasn't because of the defense. He's going to be very good for whoever gets him next season.

Talbot as NYR's No. 1: .906 SV% and 2.80 GAA in 12 games in Feburary; .946 SV% and 1.66 GAA in 12 games in March. This is why I'm not sold.

Is this not similar to when the Leafs signed Bernier. Not a big enough sample size to pay that much for him

well, Bernier was a highly touted prospect (drafted 11th overall) who also dominated in the minors. He was expected to be great, while Talbot was more of a late bloomer.

I just talked to a buddy who scouts for Washington, who is there now at the draft. Strong rumour there is Boston is trading for the 3rd pick to take Hanifin. Not sure if Lucic would be included in this package

Leafs have firm offers on the table for Phil Kessel, expect to get more on the draft floor this evening. (con't)

But Leafs don't feel it's a must to move him this weekend. Next week could be just as good a window. Will only do it if deal is right

Getting caught up here so I'll just do one post.

- LOL at what the Bruins have left from the Kessel trade.

- Love the Flames young core

- Kessel will score 60 goals if he plays with Crosby next season

- Bernier when the Leafs traded for him had the pedigree of Lehner and the results of Talbot. Schnieder even more so. Not a goalie of that level available this year.

So if BOS is only getting picks from CGY in return for Dougie Hamilton, one would think they are positioned to make more moves at this draft

Flames blue line:

Giordano (UFA in 2016)

Hamilton (RFA now)

Brodie (signed long term)

Wideman (UFA in 2017)

Russell (UFA in 2016)

Smid (UFA in 2017)

Engelland (UFA in 2017)

let's assume Arizona would take either deal. which would be better from Boston's side?

Hamilton for #3

Hamilton & #14 for #3, #45, #52

I don't think 45 & 52 are worth as much as 14 so Boston would have been better off dealing Hamilton straight up for #3 here (if it was an option).

Misread this.....

Would still do the first deal
