NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

Zadorov, Grigorenko, No. 31, mJT Compher for RYan Oreilly and Jamie McGinn.
per Dreger, this is the deal.Murray loves shipping out all the prospects. Guess this team isn't ####### around anymore.
I don't love it.
Ryan was a 2nd round pick and while he was very good last year was a struggle to watch IMO. He didn't go to next level and stayed near the same on offense. In fact he seemed weaker along the boards. So we get 2 new first round picked guys and a 2nd rounder who is at Michigan. Zadarov is a 6 4 defenseman. Avs need that more than a center and now some added depth. Avs in AHL are weak. They have to get some guys in the pipeline.
Murray has always said he wanted to turn prospects & assets into young, established players. Kane & O'Reilly fit that. Grigorenko has talent but thrown into bad situation with Buff - needs change of scenery. Zadorov I hate to lose as he projected as top line D but think he turned people in org off a bit last yr with immaturity. Compher I also like. Going back to Mich for soph yr & led team in scoring.
Your scouting report on Compher is missing a year. He didn't have a good sophomore season. Still a solid prospect though.

Right, was recently named Captain correct? Not familiar with McGinn but looks like throw in with back problems.Your scouting report on Compher is missing a year. He didn't have a good sophomore season. Still a solid prospect though.

That Isles deal is confusing. They've invested a lot in their defense and I'd think they'd like having a low cost talent back there to offset.

Feels a bit like the Nino trade. They get impatient with guys who don't develop as fast as they want.

Should I like this O'Reilly trade? I know he's been talked about by Sabres fans and media seemingly forever, and that he's apparently very good from the analytics side, but only 17 goals this season? 9 less points than last year. What's the story here? Are one of these centers going to move to the wing?

I don't think anyone in that deal will ever be close to as good as O'Reilly and Grigorenko sucks, but it's a decent pull for a guy they won't resign. Even though they should resign him if they're going to pay Soderberg that deal.

I'm not too upset to miss out on 21, 25, and 31 in this draft for Lehner, E.Kane, and O'Reilly.

So many prospects gone but oh well

Hopefully Roy can reboot Grigorenko career. He is 21 so there is still a shot and a change should help.

Word out of Denver is that O'Money wants 8M a year. And his Dad is likely to tell him to go full UFA. I think after 2 RFA deals where he played games and held out that the Avs said we have had enough. For nearly double what Soderberg cost the value is different IMO. They need to get Mac resigned and others like Barrie.

Love the Flyers draft
really weird draft for the Fly-guys. It has been soo long since they have made good decisions.

Still bummed Hextall had to let Berube go, but they need to keep him there for a long time. Give Berube one of those cush jobs in the front office

I don't see how the Sabres can make that deal without feeling very confident they can get O'Reilly signed to a new deal. I think his issues in Colorado were self-inflicted by management to some degree.

I think he's a little redundant with Girgensons but have no issues if Reinhart or someone else moves to the wing.

Sabres will have added E.Kane, Eichel, O.Reilly, McGinn, and Reinhart up front to go with Ennis, Girgensons, Moulson, Foligno, and Larsson. Pretty solid group I think with free agency still to come. Hopefully scoop up a Dman.

Your guys are doing really nice things. I'm a few bourbons in but serious question(all things considered), any interest in a Grossmann or LSchenn as a sixth D?

Skinner was on the block, any interest(from other teams fans)? Remember he has Aikman problems.

Love the Flyers draft
Excited about Provorov. Added to an already promising stable of D prospects. Konecny is great value at 24 just minor concern about that dreaded C word.
Konecny looked amazing in the top prospects game, but playing with McDavid and Meier helped a bit. I liked everything I saw from him. They trash his skating but that can be improved.

I forgot about Gionta!

Kane-O'Reilly-Moulson

Girgensons-Eichel-Ennis

Foligno-Reinhart-Gionta

Deslauriers-Larsson-McGinn

Extras: Hodgson, Legwand

Gorges-Bogosian

McCabe-Ristolainen

Weber-Pysyk

Extra: Ruhwedel

Lehner-C.Johnson

:excited:

@TheFourthPeriod: Phaneuf involved in Leafs/Kings discussions. Richards may be part of it going back. If so, Leafs expected to buy him out.

Hell I worked all night and missed the draft.

Wings do any good? Svechnikov has some good write ups, not sure I've seen him play though (Russian juniors maybe?).

Now that I've had some time to dwell on it ...

Zboril was projected to go as high as 13 to the Kings, so the Bruins taking him there makes sense if they weren't going to move up for any of Hanifin, Provorov or Werenski. He might not be a top-pair type, but sounds like he'll be decent.

DeBrusk might have been a little bit of a reach at 14, but it sounds like he at least had first-round talent. With three picks, it doesn't necessarily hurt to go outside the box if you really like someone.

Senyshyn is the one that just doesn't make any sense. You can't tell me he wouldn't have been there with any of their (now) three second-rounders, when they could have had Connor, Barzal or even appeased some of the local furor by grabbing Colin White.

Interestingly, I read once critique ripping the B's for the three picks they got for Hamilton when the Isles got 16 and 33 for Reinhart. But driving home and listening to the NHL Network replay, they were all over Garth Snow for making that deal. So who knows what to believe right after the draft is over.

Here's hoping for something interesting Saturday. A lot of great players have come out of the second round or later (Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand just to name some by the B's), so there's quality to be had.

Don't get me wrong ... today was a step back for the Bruins franchise. Sadly, I don't think they had much of a choice given what they were up against cap-wise now and would be in the future. I only hope that Sweeney is putting them on the right course, but we won't know that for a while. Making the playoffs next season will be a challenge.

...

And for FUJB ... I think your Canes have got a stud in Hanifin. Really do.

NY Post is reporting that the Panthers have offered Jimmy Hayes as part of a deal for Talbot. He's a year away from RFA so the team wouldn't be able to sign him beyond that as currently constructed. That's not a big issue for me because who knows what the team will look like a year from now, and you could move him again if it isn't going to fit. I'd do it if it's the best deal, just wish he was more of a natural center so the two could play together.

At least they got decent return, for Nino they got a plug and a 3rd. woof
There was more to it with losing Nino - The relationship turned sour... He hated Capuano, refused to come to camp and pushed hard for the trade....

Reinhart on the other hand looked like a mess in the playoffs, completely outplayed by another R... and the Isles got 2 1st round targets in a stacked draft.

I like it.

...which was the Isles doing for handling his development like ####. And it's not like you can't get return for a guy that wants out, happens all the time.

Dickie, the Bruins pooped all over themselves. Why trade Hamilton (and not take the best offer) only to sign McQuaid to a long term deal? Why reach of at least two of their three first rounders? And they are still in cap hell.

Dark day as a Bruins fan.

Virtually every hockey message board likes what the Isles did - except here of course.

I'd trade Reinhart for Barzal straight up. 2nd guy they got is just a bonus. Reinhart fell out of favor with the Isles - still have plenty of great D prospects.

Last year no one liked the Ho Sang pick - then he puts up 85 pts as an 18 year old.

I love what the Flyers are doing but I feel like I should be slightly concerned Hextall hired his son's college coach and drafted the best prospect from his own junior team. I'm sure they just happened to be the best choices right? :tinfoilhat:

I thought it was fine. Pretty fair deal, hard to say if it works out at this point.

Avs traded pick 31 to Sharks and get back the picks they traded to them for Brad Stuart. So they rented Stuart last year for nothing. Sharks still win that one.

Woah here's an interesting one:

NYR trades Carl Hagelin and 59th and 179th picks to ANA for Emerson Etem and 41st pick. Then NYR take Ryan Gropp with 41st pick.

10:39am - 27 Jun 15

Talbot finally traded:

@KatieStrangESPN: The New York Rangers have traded goaltender Cam Talbot and pick No. 209 to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for picks No. 57, 79 and 184
