NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

Kevin Hayes is really turning into something. He's been great for a couple weeks and the goal he scored tonight was beautiful.
lol...was going to write exactly the same thing. He's really been impressive the past couple of weeks. I really like how he plays. Makes some dumb mistakes at times but he's just a kid and I'd rather see someone like that being a little overaggressive. That goal was a beauty!

oh, and...ZZZZUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC! He's so fun to watch when he gets on a roll. He seems like the kinda guy whose enthusiasm can be infectious on the team.
Zuc was being spoken of as a trade target. If so, his performance over the past couple of weeks is driving the benefits of a trade up.

On a side note, WTF is going on with Marty StL? That give away in his own end last night was terrible.
No idea with MSL. Like I said, I think there's an injury there. He's fallen off way too fast. Imagine, with Nash playing so well, where this team would be with Marty rolling too. Hopefully he puts it together down the stretch and in the playoffs.

That give away and his recent play seems to indicate its mental too. He's injured and its messed with his head or he's got something going on in his family life. My two-bit psychological analysis for what its worth.

This is a pretty crazy stat I just picked up from Twitter

#Rangers are 26-5-2 this year when scoring first. They're now 138-1-9 in the reg. season since Feb. 6, 2010 when leading after two periods.

yeah, I said it last week also. He is a waste out there at this point. Sad to say and wasnt like this all year. But he is not playing well at all
Found this in the NY Post: “I’ve gone through stretches like this before, and it’s not a fun place to be, but fortunately the team is winning.

“Sometimes the game gets hard. Sometimes life gets hard,” said St. Louis, who has gone 14 straight without a goal. “There’s only one way to get through it, and that’s by keeping your head up and continuing to work.

“I’m very disappointed with that mistake. You never want to make a mistake that leads to a goal,” No. 26 said. “But I’m going to do whatever it takes to try and get it together. “The team is winning, so that helps you buy time to find your game.”

Makes you wonder what's going on in his world.

If anybody is wondering what Sheriff has been up to. I have it on good authority that he proposed to his woman on the jumbrtron at the Pens game Wednesday night.

30 Thoughts: Who else was after Evander Kane?
14. The two most likely players (with term) to be moved were Kane and Myers, and now they are off the board. So, who else was in? Calgary certainly was in on both, with the Jets and Sabres intrigued by the Flames’ youth at centre.

But the southern Albertans were unwilling to pay a very high price that focused on at least one, if not an attempt at both, of Sam Bennett and Sean Monahan. (You can’t blame someone for asking.) It might have ended up being one and a more experienced middleman like Mikael Backlund, but that’s a lot. Centres are hard to find. The moment you trade them, you’re looking for them.

15. Washington tried hard on Kane. It is believed the Capitals made a strong pitch for him at the draft. There were more talks this season, but the sense is they were not willing to subtract from what they have now. Washington could not have given Winnipeg what the Jets needed right away. Arizona, rebuilding with youth, didn’t have the extra first-rounders or young forwards Buffalo did. The Coyotes need to keep those players.

Seguin's season might be done. weird hit, really borderline hip check. submarines him but you could maybe still call that a hip check.

regardless, that could sink the Stars for good.

Kevin Hayes reminds me of a young Bernie Nicholls.

I like the dads thing the Rangers are doing. That must be fun for them.

Biggest Ranger/Islander regular season game in a long time on Monday. Statement game for both teams.

If I ever have a son, I'm pushing him to play hockey just so I can go on trips like that on the 0.000000001% chance he makes it to the NHL.

I think every team is doing it this year.

Preds going for it.

Garrioch: Predators announce they acquired Franson and Santorelli from Leafs. Toronto gets back No. 1 pick, Brendan Leipsic and Olli Jokinen. #NHL

10:53am - 15 Feb 15

I get a first for Franson and Leipsic for Santorelli but still thought they could get a bit more. Interesting that Franson was traded back to Nashville.

Wonder if Chicago or St Louis make any big moves to keep pace.

Thought it was a steal myself. But Franson could go UFA so could only be a rental, probably diminished his value a bit.

Blues may get a D-man to fill in for Shatty, but that'll be it probably.

Hawks have been doing this along with a Mom's trip since 2009 :coffee:
Preds started this formally in 1999. A few teams informally before that. :coffee: :coffee:

Yeah Franson UFA limits his value, I'd have been surprised if they got more than a 1st for him.

Chicago can't unless they move some significant money, really the only option would be Bickell but I highly doubt it. TVR is set to come back soon, so that's a big add IMO. Kid was playing great D before he got hurt.

####, Steve montador suicide :(
heard this as well. :( I remember him mainly from his days with the Shames as they were division rivals of the Wild. Remember being at a game at the X late in the season that got feisty and Montador went with Stevenson and someone else among other bouts.
