The game's going to OT, but analytics crew is right, the Avalanche are poo. Completely hemmed in all night long by the Leafs.

Shots 32-12 from 2nd period on.

Leafs just resigned Gardiner in the offseason and he's been a healthy scratch for 2 straight games. What's the deal with that?

 
Sabres pick up 1st win on Girgensons goal in 8th round of SO. Such a weird year - always want your team to win, but Canes are a team we need to 'beat' for last place.

 
Flyers game got bumped from it's normal radio station in Philly to air preseason sixers game? Jesus, next thing you know they'll build a statue to commemorate a fictional sports figure.

I wonder if the AHL overtime experiment will graduate to the NHL. 7 minute overtime, the first 3 minutes 4 on 4. The first whistle after the 3 minute mark and they go to 3 on 3.

6 overtime games in the AHL so far and not one has made it to the shoot out. 3 determined in 4 on 4 and 3 in 3 on 3.

FWIW ... I know everyone has been zeroed in on McDavid, but you might want to keep an eye on what Jack Eichel is doing at BU. Might be the most talented player I've seen come through Hockey East since Paul Kariya.

Oh, and he doesn't turn 18(!) for another two weeks.

I think everyone is almost as excited about Eichel. I wouldn't be disappointed with either player obviously. As long as you finish with the worst record, you are guaranteed to get one of them so that's the goal.
