NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (2 Viewers)

Burakovsky is legit and a much better defensive effort from the Caps but they still have a ways to go before being anything really good.Saw some flashes though so that is very encouraging.
Seen him play a few times last season with Erie, sorry to say I agree that he's a stud

Very encouraging to see a complete game shutout from the Wild. None of this dominate a period then get dominated stuff. 48 shots is a franchise record. Now they're another year in the system and really playing together. It's only one game and we'll see how they do on the road against the Avs again, but wow! We're comin'!

yeah, losing Boyle for the Rangers kinda sucks.

TBH, the Klein/Moore pairing held their own.

Now, if the Rangers replaced 5'9 Boyle with 6'5 McIlrath that would certainly add some size and grit to their team :) Doubt they'll do it yet though.

Rangers played great in the 1st, and held on to get the late winner. Very good win for the Rangers, kinda surprised me.

JT Miller was a no-show, Krieder was terrific, Duclair showed sparks.....loved how the Blues announcers went on about the Rangers speed all night

My man crush for Nash knows no bounds. I wish he could play like this every night. Oh, St Louis at center wasn't great. Blues tried to get Backes against him most of the night and really nullified him.

I'm very high on Krieder having an excellent year and being a big catalyst for this team.

eta: Boyle injury really sux.

Jeez, 1 game in and the Buffalo trade rumors already flying Myers to Det?
I don't like the story, mainly because Dreger mentions the Sabres trying to get help in the draft. At this point, they have 3 first round picks next year and are already loaded with prospects.

If he went to Detroit, I'm not sure what the return would be but I'd think they'd rather go after some young guys who are more developed and closer to contributing. I still think it's too early to give up on him unless the return is substantial also.

Why not save him until the draft and if things don't work out in the McDavid sweepstakes drawing - then take some of the picks and Myers at that time and make the trade to the McDavid winner

it all depends on what teams are offering. I don't think Murray will trade him to get rid of him, but if he thinks he can get the best deal now than I guess it makes sense. I really don't think they are actively shopping him, but nothing wrong with listening to offers I guess. I just really don't think adding more picks would be the priority when you move a player like Myers. They can get more draft picks with the pending UFAs they have like Stewart and Stafford.

If Detroit is in the mix, I'd be asking for guys like Mantha and Nyquist I suppose.

Upshall got lit up, somehow came back to play:

And not even draw a penalty?Wow!
That hit could've been payback for Scottie squirting Gatorade on Gudas. Those silly boys. https://mobile.twitter.com/kkestler/status/520403688167600128/photo/1
And even better he gets a warning for this?Would love to hear the explanation for this one.

Joe Smith @TBTimes

No hearing for @radkogudas for his hit on #Panthers Upshall, but Quintal called him to discuss play, let him know it was "close to the edge"

How in the hell is Chris Pronger hired by the NHL while still being under contract with the Flyers???
And in the Dept of Player Safety to boot. :lmao:
Along with input on suspensions?? Wtf is going on?
Kinda like hackers who get busted and become "security experts."
But still getting paid by the Don. Seems like a bit of conflict of interest, no? Somehwere.

Not to mention the Flyers cap would be totally hosed if Pronger's LTIR went away and his retirement hit the cap this year.

Mantha is untouchable imo.
