NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

Van - Chi trade

To Van: Clendening. Def

To Chi: Forsling. Def

Forsling was a 5th rnd pick in last years draft. Had a good showing at the WJC for Sweden and has a booming point shot. A little surprised he was moved to be honest cause the Canucks don't have many promising young pmd.

Don't know much about Clendening other than his name rhymes with Jim Benning.

Clendening is a lot closer to playing in the NHL, but Forsling likely has more upside.

Just bought a 10-game pack for the Islanders that gives me playoff rights.

Last year in the old barn and the team is hot, I had to do it.

Any isles fans want a pair of reg season tix, PM me.
PM sent...

I bought a lot of single games before the season but, maybe I should look into that plan since I WILL be at every playoff game anyway.

Sabres vs Ryan Miller tonight

huge night yesterday with a Coyotes win, Oilers win, and Sabres loss.

tough to see this Sabres team rebounding. they are a mess.

Toronto is a disaster right now too. Man, if they get McDavid, everybody will think it's rigged.

Read a tweet today that if Buffalo stays on current pace, Leafs can basically only pick up 4 more points rest of season if they want to finish last. I'd be fine with a Strome/Marner/Hanifin, assuming they get up there... you just know they'll take Lawson Crouse though (who I like but isn't at the same level offensively... But is big, so, Leafs.)

Took my daughter to the Flyers game last night. Her 3rd game ever. Final scores for her 3 games.

0-0 loss in shootout

2-1 loss

1-0 win.

3 games 2 goals total by the home team :lmao:

Ovechkin becomes 5th player in NHL history to score 30 goals in 1st 10 seasons.
Without looking it up who are the other 4 ?
Lol just asked on my edit....The gimme is TGO. Gonna have to think a few minutes.
I was 3 out of the 4.
Nice, I'm having a hard time coming up with a second one...Did Teemu do it?
No
Cool. Has to be another Oiler... Kurri?

Back from my trip to Montreal for the Caps game on Saturday and even though it was seriously bitter cold I fell in love with the city and the people.Stick tap to Chet for the spreadsheet he passed along as it came in very handy.I was like a 5 year old kid at christmas walking into the Bell Centre for the first time.Never had any problems with anyone from the city and all were very helpful in anything we may have asked or needed.

Without a doubt we are going back when it warms up to be able to do a ton more stuff that we missed but we did get in some good food from having a Shwartz's sandwich(well worth the wait) to some poutine at the Montreal Pool Room(first time having it but loved it)and various other spots to take in some of what the city had to offer.Old Montreal was impressive as well and can't wait to go back.

Thanks again to the tips to those that offered them, much appreciated :hifive:

I really think teams need to have a choice of declining a penalty shot in favor of the power play.

What is the downside

Bolts waive Nabokov. Bring up Vasilevskiy to be the #2 behind Bishop.

Good call. Tough February schedule. If they stuck with Nabokov they could've dropped to the wild-card.

All the east teams are tough as #### though so I'm not even sure how much playoff seeding matters, aside from the game 7 at home.

The downside is penalty shots are converted at a significantly higher percentage than a power play is. Since 2006 it ranges from 10-30% more annually.

3 on 3 is as gimmicky as a shootout. I don't understand the tragedy of it being shut down.

fix the point system, not the method of getting to the result. who cares about that, it's either a tie or a gimmick.

3 on 3 all day for me if it's between that and a shootout.Shootouts are horrible but at least 3 on 3 you need to make a hockey play to win the game, not a skills comp like the shootout is.
