NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (2 Viewers)

And that was an awesome "Potvin Sucks" chant. Louder than the Garden!
Sweet... as an Islander fan, I absolutely love it.
I couldn't say the same for "1940" Glad the Rangers finally put an end to that in 94.
#ForeEver1940.

Big game Monday and I hope to be chanting "you can't beat us"

(Again)
I think it's a bigger game for the Rangers than the Islanders. Islanders can lose this and it won't really be a big deal.

Rangers need to win this one, plain and simple. Unfortunately, I'm confident that they will and that's never a good sign.

Flyers held on for a less than scintillating win over Rud's Sabres. Coburn looked awful coming back from injury. After giving up a breakaway in the third (and a trip in the second on a delayed penalty to set up a 5v3 PP), he wasn't seen from again. Raffl on the other hand had some flashes.

Rinaldo is eligible to be back in the lineup on Tuesday. No way would I sit White for him, but I wouldn't put it past Berube.

They may make things interesting

Interesting for what? Getting smoked in four games round 1? They need a miracle to even get in, they're actually collecting meaningless points since there's little chance they get in IMO.

i totally agtee. Just trying to be positive

hoping Fletcher targets Bergenheim and a bottom pairing defenseman for depth. shouldn't cost much and good insurance. I think Bergenheim will fit in perfectly on this team and be a good replacement for Cooke/Carter in the bottom 6. get Veilleux off this roster and park Haula now please.

What about the turnover machine that is Prosser?

What about Brodin? He's been awful last few games.

Prosser was a disaster the first half of the season but has been fine lately. got beat up last night though.

not sure what you're seeing with Brodin. he's been fine and was very good last night.

Lot of lazy turnovers, failed clears, etc. He's been getting away with most of them.

Very entertaining game with the Icelanders and Rags last night

Caught a bit of Price once again making a strong case for the Vezina, just has been outstanding all year long.

Heck of a game Rangers vs Isles tonight
I only saw part of the second period and the recap showing the goals scored, but it looked like the Islanders had a number of scoring chances in the second and a couple of the Ranger goals (in the recap) were shots that would normally be stopped. I guess the Islander goalie was screened on them.

Vezina? that should be a given. Hart is the only question left, and that's only because goalies never win. that team is mediocre to below average without him.

Starting to hear more and more talk of him winning the Hart. Not saying this because I'm a Hab fan, just columnists and so-called experts starting to put his name out there as a serious contender.

Just a few examples. It's been over 10 years since a goalie won the Hart.

Rinne has been having a great year as well and even though he missed time he still has more wins.33-7-2 with a 1.97 GAA and a .931 SP.I agree though that Price should be ahead but it's not a given quite yet.

no shot for Rinne?

Price: 32-11-2, 1.93, .935, 5

Rinne: 33-7-2, 1.97, .931, 3

yes. Preds are a quality team. Habs are not.

I agree, but based on numbers I don't know that I'd write Rinne off yet.

if Price is lifting a garbage team to the playoffs, that speaks to his Hart candidacy more than Vezina imo.

Halak really seemed to be all over the place with his positioning in the second half of the game. There was traffic around him on McDonagh's first goal but he had a good view of it, and McD's second deflected off Vishnovsky's stick. There weren't screens on goals 4, 5 or 6 and there might have been a slight screen on Kreider's goal.

Just wasn't a great game for him or Talbot. Talbot gave up that gift 11 seconds in, gave up way too juicy of rebound on the second, and while Boychuk's goal was a bomb, it was from the blue line, well telegraphed (he strided into it for what felt like a minute and a half) and there was no traffic.

yes, this is me writing him off in my opinion. obviously people vote on the stats and not my opinion so he has a shot. I'm just saying it shouldn't be close.

not garbage, just nowhere near best team in the East/NHL as they currently sit.

Ovechkin truly a coward, two handed slash to letang sends him into boards, gets challenged smiles like b@@@@ then hits someone from behind after turning down challenge. COWARD!

Cheer up Pens Fan. Yes you're 0-3 vs. Washington this year but at least you finally scored a goal on Holtby.

Backstrom assist to Ward was phenomenal.

Wings chances to win the division will likely be decided on this next six game road trip. Chicago, Dallas, the California teams and Nashville. :X
