Good day for the Ruins ... Pens, Wings and Sens (shootout) all lose. Games in hand now all gone.

What does it matter? If Boston makes the playoffs they have to play the Bolts, Habs, or Rags...pick your poison.

Wings have two of their last three with the Canes too while Boston has to go to DC and two stops in Florida. Pens and Sens play Tuesday in Ottawa.

bruins own the Rangers. Right now it's your wings vs rangers.

I don't really care, I just want them in. Their first round opponent is gonna be one of the three clear best teams in the conference.

Hawks playing dirty, but the good guys have the lead after two. 3rd period should be good.
This is rich. Complaining about another team playing dirty.
The last time the Blues had a player suspended was 2013. Max Lappierre, who isn't even on the team anymore.

The Hawks had 2 players suspended in the playoffs last year, and they've have 2 players suspended this year - it should be 3 but we all know the NHL punishes result over intent so it won't be. I always watch the other team's broadcast so I'm not surprised to constantly see this rhetoric brought up because it's always echoed by broadcasters. But it's simply not true. The Blues play somewhat physical, nothing like in the past, but they play it clean. I saw somewhere one of you said they were top 3 or 5 in PIM, well they've given up the 15th most PP chances in the league. Right in the middle.

Couldn't ask for much more in the last 3 game road trip @Mon,@Sens and @Wings by getting 5 of the possible 6 points and now also clinching a playoff spot.

All hail the Holtbeast!

With the exception of Montreal, there's no other team in the East that the Bruins should be concerned with playing. They are combined 14-5-4 against those other 7 teams in or fighting for a playoff spot.

Right here 5th most penalty minutes per game.

Last 2 spots in the East coming down to the wire

Pens and Wings both have 95 points and the B's also are at the same number but hold the tiebreaker for the 3 slot in the Atlantic.Sens have 93pts and all 4 teams have 3 games remaining.

B's schedule has @Caps,@Florida and @Bolts

Wings have vs Canes,@Habs and @Canes

Pens have @Sens,vs Isles and @Sabres

Sens have vs Pens,@Rags and @Flyers

Pens and Sens game is the biggest and will either keep the Sens in the hunt if they win or send them packing because of the tiebreaker.

Montreal and TB are still in a battle for the top seed in the Atlantic and have an outside shot at catching the Rags for the conference seed.

Be funny if the Pens fans are forced to root for the Flyers on the last day of he season.
Curious as to whether the Pens blow up the organization again should they fail to make the playoffs this year.

I can't think of a single move I've liked in the past 12 months.

Maybe it wasn't Bylsma and Shero

if the Pens miss the playoffs, could you imagine if their 1st round pick won the lottery? They traded it to Edmonton already.

David Perron traded for Connor McDavid would be pretty awesome.

I believe you. I just don't understand why you think that proves your point.

That'd be crazy. Do they actually put Pittsburgh balls in the drawing though? Probably just increase the number of Edmonton ones.

I would think Johnston would be easier to replace than Rutherford but who knows?

I think they keep track

Pens go into a few week slump where they are still playing alright despite missing key guys and still very likely to get into the playoffs where they will be favored against Montreal and close to even against New York...and we're getting "blow it up" talk? come on.

Bruins fans in here said their season was over a month ago

RE: Penguins, someone thinks they should try to deal Sid for Connor.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/why-the-penguins-should-trade-sidney-crosby-for-the-no-1-pick/

although I'm not sure a team would take that deal.

:goodposting:

The idea that every penalty = a dirty play (which saying "they are 5th in penalties" pretty much implies) is pretty dumb.

penalty minutes are not the most reliable indicator of dirty play since a guy can get a 10-minute misconduct just for #####ing at the ref and a 2-minute penalty for taking a 2-handed chop at someone with their stick.

They're 20-20-7 since late December.

yeah, going 3-8-1 in the last few weeks will do that.

blow it up. trade Malkin to the Kings.

They've only had 15 regulation wins in last 46 games.

if the Kings get the Pacific wild card spot, is there any question that they roll that division again?
They still have a good shot to get 2nd in that division. But I agree that division looks very doable for them,if they hit the Central all bets are off but given their history I wouldn't even put that past them getting it done.

They would have to, in order to keep track of the rest of the draft order. There would be a difference between Pittsburgh's pick bumping up and everyone dropping down a spot, or Edmonton's moving up and only a couple trickling down.

I only said wild card because I think if Winnipeg gets in there they could give them problems if the match up.

Good point

Exactly! That's why I mentioned power plays against which the Blues are smack dab in the middle of the league. It's not perfect either, but it's a better indicator than PIM. I guess the Blues disparity there is that they fight more than other teams. I don't equate that with being dirty.

Imagine if the Oilers woulda finished in last place and the Pens missed the playoffs. Pens win lottery, Edm gets McDavid and Eichel.

And somehow still manage to stink

The Wild appear to be going back to their old ways.

Its been pretty well talked about that the refs dont care for MN (Koivu in particular). I was thinking last night....do the Mn Players whine to the refs a lot because Yeo hardly says anything? Maybe once every 4 games he'll say something, very briefly, but 90% of the time, when Mn gets screwed on a call or non call, the camera cuts to the bench and in Yeo's anger, he takes a drink of water. If you watch for it, it really is odd. Perhaps the players are just whiney #####es, or perhaps they feel like no one elase is going to stick up for them?

I watched that game last night. I thought Minnesota looked really good, just got beat by the goalie. As for the penalties, I heard your broadcast complaining about that... And it just seems silly to me. You guys are middle of the league in power play opportunities. Everybody has nights where they get screwed by the refs. It happens.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/statistics/team/_/stat/special-teams/sort/powerPlayOpportunities

Edit - sorry, misread your post. No idea if the refs dislike your team more than most. Seems like a weird thing to analyze.

Parise gets mauled every game and never draws a penalty. I agree on an isolated game, teams get screwed. Doesnt usually happen night after night to most teams.

haven't lost back to back games or by more than 1 goal in almost 3 months. last three games were not pushovers either. it was bound to happen and it's better now when they are all but in and before the playoffs. plenty of time to get momentum back.

it usually evens out. the other night against Detroit they had the benefit of the whistle, last night they didn't. couple glaring missed calls but that happens. Koivu getting the boot an awful lot lately, often unfairly IMO. though he cheats a lot on faceoffs (everyone does but he more than most) so maybe they're cracking down on him.

I don't think any refs have anything against them and think that's pretty preposterous in general, though Brad Meier leaves plenty of suspicion with his history.

Suter has been whining a lot lately and I think he definitely wasn't getting the benefit of the doubt the other night against the Rangers because of it. Yeo actually yells very often.
