"An all-night negotiating session between the San Francisco 49ers and the agents for first-round choice Vernon Davis was rewarded with Davis making his first practice and the former Maryland star becoming the highest-paid tight end in the league."
This is what is wrong with the NFL salary stucture. Davis has not taken a snap, yet he is the highest paid TE in the league. I'd rather see the vets get the fat contracts and make the rooks earn it. Don't get me wrong, I want players to squeeze as much cash out of the owners as possible, but it would be nice to see performance on the field (an NFL game) rewarded instead of where a guy was picked.
I wonder when we will see a rookie salary cap? Well, at least VDavis got his.
