Nnamdi Asomugha to the Eagles (1 Viewer)

One

Not Allowed In Mexico
Eagles agreed to terms with CB Nnamdi Asomugha on a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal includes $25 million guaranteed.

The Eagles were lying in the weeds the whole time. The Jets are expected to turn their sights back to Antonio Cromartie, and the Cowboys will apparently keep overpriced, aging Terence Newman. More to come. http://www.rotoworld.com/sports/nfl/football

I have to think that may be the recipe to top the Pack in the NFC. Does Samuel stay? If so, should be the best secondary in the league. Improved pass rush (Babin), freaky-good CBs (3 of them) and an offense that can put on the pressure could really get in Aaron Rodgers' head.

Can you say ALL IN?

The Eagles won't finish with a Super Bowl no matter how many studs they acquire. Vick just isn't that guy to get the job done when it matters most, against the top NFL competition. Enjoy your 12-4 season and eventual playoff loss Eagle fans. Vick is the new McNabb...congrats.

Regular season, he'll yeah. However, Vick still isn't a good enough pocket passer to lead a team to a Super Bowl win. Never has been and (dispute some improvement) still isn't. It's gonna be a painful end of the season for Eagle fans. Enjoy the regular season though.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Dilfer won a superbowl.Vick won't have to do it all himself, the rest of the team is stacked on both offense/defense.

That is quite a limb you are going out on by picking a team not to win the Superbowl. Simply put, it takes a lot of breaks to win it all, to say they can't do it because of Vick is pretty moronic.

They lost by 5 points to the Packers in a game where Vick was banged up. The Packers wouldn't be capable of scoring 21 points against that secondary again, never mind if Vick were healthy. If 1 play turned out differently Eagles would have won that game

It wasn't as close as the final score indicated.

Yeah it was, Eagles were driving for the win with 30 seconds to go. Last play was a pick in the endzone.

The only way this move makes sense is if Andy Reid and the Front Office were sitting around thinking. Hmmm how do we beat the Packers this year who are a really good passing team.???

And the answer is :

Lets get DRC and Ndama Asamougha (I know the spelling is wrong) and we have a pretty good shot of beating them that way.

Does anyone else agreee???

I agree. If anything, it was closer than the score indicated.

Why are the talking heads on the NFL network speculating that Asante Samual is expendable? He had 7 ints in 10 game starts last season. If anything they should turn around and trade DRC.

Because of the style of play.Asomugha and DRC are bump and run CB. Asante is a zone guy. If the Birds are going more bump and run then Samuel becomes the odd man out.

The Eagles have really struggled of late to get off of the field on 3rd down and stop the good passing teams. Dallas with Witten/Austin/Bryant. The Giants with Nicks/SSmith/Manningham/Boss (yes, Boss). Green Bay. Teams that can force nickel defense and convert on third and long are tough to beat.

So now how do you do it? Get 3 strong corners and try and come up with a better pass rush. If Babin steps up on the other side of Trent Cole then yes, they are quite a defense now. Juan Castillo might look like a very good DC in a very short time.

Not to mention that was with D-Jax missing half the game, and Vick being at maybe 2/3 speed. Felt very strongly at the time, and still do believe that whoever won that game was going to be the NFC's Super Bowl representative.

And have 2 new cornerbacks to teach your system to when you could have a very good one who's experienced in it and a great one to get up to speed? Now is the time to oversell DRC.

Samuals contract was front loaded. In other words, he was paid 20 M in bonus money over the first 3 years. I know the old adage that is better to trade a player a year too early than late but I'm not sure it makes much financial sense to trade a him now especially since he is still very productive.

They look very difficult to beat... on paper. Have to execute now. Well that and they MUST give DJax a new contract and get him in camp ASAP. If they

do, they are the odds-on favorite to usurp the Packers IMO.

Here's what Asante is scheduled to make... (cap hit in parenthesis)2011: $5.9M ($7M)2012: $8.4M ($9.5M)2013: $10.4M ($11.5M)How do you trade that?

There are any number of types of qbs who have won the big game - not all were good pocket passers. Vick certainly gets my vote as being a better qb than some who have won the Super Bowl.
