No Conference Championships for me this weekend... (1 Viewer)

Meh. I'm with MOP. Might watch the games, might not. If the afc game is at night I will probably catch part of it. Its hard to dedicate time to a 3+ hour commercial fest contest between a bunch of guys that have no real bearing on my life when there are so many other things going on that are more important in the grand scheme of things. I'm going to spend the afternoon hanging out with my boys. There was plenty of time to watch football before they were born and there will be plenty of time to watch it when they are too old to want to spend time with me. Ultimately family is what really matters.
I don't think I was quite saying all that

Only read the OP. But if it makes you feel better, I get to go to a 50th wedding anniversary for one of my wife's uncles. It starts at 12:30 and lasts FOUR HOURS. FOUR HOURS!!! For an anniversary lunch!

That's no biggie (well it sucks, but you can still watch football), just set your DVR and you'll be caught up by halftime.

I wish. Just moved in to a new home. Sitting down and watching anything is going to be impossible now that I am losing five hours out of my weekend (including drive time). To be honest, I had to bite my tongue, hard, when she told me this damn thing was four hours. I don't have time for that crap.

Speaking of which, my break is over. Time to get back to it.

You know, I have gone 48 hours without alcohol. Mere happenstance, though.

McGarnicle - its true that I will always have my boys around. When they are a little older and interested in it, I would love to sit down and watch football with them. Its probably a good opportunity to talk about a lot of other life lessons. But right now they are preschoolers and these are times that I won't get back.

Yeah because we all know the team with the heaviest roster always wins. Not sure why they bother to play the games just weight everyone and go from there. For Dentist we would weight them 3 times before we gave them the win of course.

You guys have an incredibly simplistic view of the game.
No team that is 30-50 pounds lighter on every line position has a chance to win. It's not even plausible. They very likely didn't have any 4.3-4.4 guys either. It's ok to admit it was a different game back then.
Sometimes FSU loses with decided weight advantagesnot in 2013/2014 but other seasons they have fallen to teams with far less to work with athletically. Wasn't Florida bigger and faster than some of those 8 teams they lost to this year? Gus might not be able to out coach old Don Shula as well.
I doubt FSU has lost to too many teams with an average Oline weight of 260.
Some team named Southern Miss marched into the Doak in 1991 against a stacked FSU team with huge weight advantages over them across the board and somehow beat the Noles that day. For a gift certificate to La Teresita on Coumbus, who was the visiting QB that day at the Doak?
Favre.
Favre played for the Atlanta Falcons in 1991. Therefore, the other guy wrote the wrong year or Southern Mississippi's QB that day was some other guy.

Bentley is right here. I'm a bigger fan of time with the kids than football. Doesn't help that I'm gone during the week for work now. We'll watch some but there's no way I'm sitting around watching TV for over 6 hours Sunday.

If you are on the east coast, you would be inside anyway after nightfall which is around 4:45. Nothing is really worth going to after that time. Well, maybe Chuck E. Cheese is open till 6. If bentley does not have full custody of his kids, I could understand passing on football. Also, if he is on the west coast and/or in a warm climate, there would be options for outdoor activities or going to a store while the games are on.

Finally, I never wrote that the guy was wrong.

I'd make a terrible dad. [watching game, cracks 5th beer]"HEY I THINK THE SMALLER ONE #### HIS PANTS AGAIN".

I'll likely have it on in the background, but will spend more time playing games with the kids and even though it's cold, we will be outside after 5. Sun doesn't set until 5:30Hate the mouse. Although it's useful on rainy days.

Supposed to be 60 here in KC today. Which means outside with the kids all day. Probably sneak in a few glances on the TV in the garage.

Can't waste this gorgeous day inside.
Gonna be 70 today in Miami, not a cloud to be found and no rain. While I will be watching most of the game, you can't waste this kind of weather so off to Key Biscayne until the games start.

Good for you, enjoy.

Don't worry. No matter how bad you'll be, there will always be someone worse at it.

After seeing the results of game one, it doesn't seem like I missed much. And enjoyed the family event. So it was all good.
