No Fiddlin' Around, No Piper Down - It's The Aly/Mia Thread, Zed (1 Viewer)

From where to where, and why the bus?

home to daughter's school ... i'm sans car atm, and the train doesn't negotiate the destination well.

it's a private all-girl's Academy, and the bus drops off only half block away - train woulda necessitated hopping off, then 15 minutes on the bus, anyway - so i cut the mid man.

Dang. Thought this was going to be a long distance ordeal complete with bus breakdown in the middle of Iowa followed by crazy guy peeing in the aisle and finally pulling in during the middle of the night when no restaurants are open.

:unsubscribe:

replace IOWA with CANARSIE, keep all the peeing dee-gees and mechanical issues, and we good 👍

gotta be well over 20 yrs since i took a City bus line ... feel like i just went 15 rds with circa '71 Frazier, taking dozens of body shots - then tossed down a flight of stairs, and beaten head to toe with an aluminum bat ... then toe to head, for good measure.

let alone the delousing im'ma need toot sweet.

:oldunsure:

Oh man, back in my impoverished Navy days, I rode a bus from Connecticut to West Texas. Thankfully, the NYC Greyhound was the second stop on the journey and the remainder of the trip was like a walk in the park.

any emotional support dawgs on that trip? there were two on board the rollicking TB ward i have since alighted.

Is this a redefinition of eternity? Who is on the bus? Why this trip now?

i need my car back.

i am volunteering at a self-defense initiative some of the father's cobbled together for the young ladies - i am well skilled in the finer art of hockey pugilism, so the gloves will be dropping soon.

did i mention yet how much that ride sucked? and the kid does it every day.

i need to do better than that.

yeah, it does come with growing up in a city. Kids grow up that way. Im a car guy, through and through. Suburbia! Say it like Lee Ving

I took a bus from New Orleans to Indiana in college. Took just over 24 hours IIRC.

Pretty uneventful but I did sit next to a truck driver who crashed into a river. He had both arms in casts. Said he thought he was poisoned too as his crash site was down river from a pulp factory or something.

Also, bus stops aren’t in the best part of town.

What was that racket? That was…bloodletting.

i prefer "spatula to the soul"

it's a stone crassic - maybe if they played this at the US festival, crybaby Joe might've gotten the TOP DOLLAR/BILLING he whined about not having (how ... PUNK!!1!)

that was given to Van Halen, and ol' DLR ripped Joe mercilessly about it onstage.

(Joe was also accosted by a booze/dope addled Ozzy, and "punk"ed outta the kerfuffle).

this 👆 may be the kinda trek i'm really hankering for - these 11 mile mudskips i'm embarking on aren't affording me that depth of character.

Muddy Mudskipper begs to differ.

sin gas, and con leche

(... and Declan worming away Cait's heart)

woke up to snowfall, it's all about the Uber today.

are you teaching the class today, too?

assisting again - one of the dad's is a Martial Arts trainer, and is donating his time & services - word got around at the bar during the school's daddy/daughter gala dance last month that he was looking for some extra juice, so i'm availing myself.

i enjoyed demonstrating some boxing technique ... once we navigated getting the gloves on - it's all velcro nowdays, no more lace.

i like the footwork aspect of it all ... now, mind you, we don't expect shuffling n' sheeit to be second nature here, but it helps to be aware of your weight shifting/balance - that's a goodly part of delivering quality attacks, and staying on your feet.

good turnout, to boot - we going until next Thursday, just in time for some St. Paddy's shennanigans & shillaleghs.

sooo ... let's see ...

$22 Uber, or $3.25 two zone bus?

🤔

UBER RANT:

was all prepared to summon, yet saw yesterday's fare (roughly $22) was showing as $33 for this afternoon.

beautiful day here ... mid 40s, plenty of sun, abundant blue skies - but steady winds of 15-20mph, gusts upward to 30mph (effin' my 'do up, don'tcha know).

so, they jaked prices 33% because of some wind? aren't they HQ based in SFO? as if these punks dunno from a gust or two.

/ovah

Surge pricing for demand. All those Queens queens conserving their coif.
Not that you are a Queens queen like David Jo, mind you.

awwwww, man - yeah ... bad day for dead raccoons, weaves, Sy Sperling, pompadours - only a cat like Marshall Brodine could thrive in this - really miss that fella.

btw, my math were wrong 'em boyo - 50% increase, as it were.

more Genzale than Buster, but point well taken ✌️

utility co was supposed to be here at 8:30 a.m. - problem with the furnace - only 45 minutes late, thus far ... gonna make this joker walk barefoot on my tiles if he fails to rectify the lack of heat (been without 24+ hrs).
