No Fiddlin' Around, No Piper Down - It's The Aly/Mia Thread, Zed (1 Viewer)

Took the city bus in high school (subway too for a while, it's a complicated story). Anyway bottom line my daughter is lucky to have two parents working from home and living on LI.

Respect to the city folks with kids making it work on public transport, and making it work in general. It ain't easy.

I think I could listen to five minutes of bagpipes then tap out.
Doesn't matter what the scenery is

ya, but she done bringin' an 'lectric fiddler with her this time - hey, the soundscape works, and i highly doubt they go any longer than 40 mins, tops.

just pretty effin' cool and refreshing to see young ladies rocking out, proper, and actually mastering their instruments.

not everyone's cup of tea, sure ... but i applaud their efforts.

Bagpipes always remind me of my favorite school janitor, Groundskeeper Willie.

This just made me laugh. Before he Simpsons got sensitive (or did they?) they could really send up an ethnicity or a menial job, and sometimes they managed to do both.

Groundskeeper Willie. Sounds like such a terrifying name for a guy around little kids.

In the episode where Homer wins the lotto he buys Willie a solid gold mop bucket.

Simple question. What's the longest amount of time any of you have listened to bagpipe music?
I'm not talking background noise. A concert can get kinda loud.

I will stop posting and listen.

we get it.

it ain't your bag ...

but, eff it, i'll play along -

this is not a staid bagpipe recital - it is backed by a full rock band, and now a pretty friggin' talented electric violinist.

from what i've heard, and from the live show reviews i've read, this ain't yer Uncle Willie's pipes.

have at it.

All I can think of are the Scots-Irish parades outside my apartment while I'm rippingly hungover from the night's revelry and hearing those things come screaming down the street and past my window.

Could. have. done. without. thank. you. Scottish.
