No love for Blair Walsh? (1 Viewer)

The dude killed it last week. He had a stellar preseason. His offense is playing the Colts this week and still no love. All of the "professional" rankers have him way down the line. What gives?

I have noticed he is still available in almost all of my leagues despite being one of the top scoring kickers last week. It has to be because he plays for the Vikings, a team most think will not be very good, so they think his scoring opportunities will be somewhat limited.

What I want to know is... how in the world did this kid make only 21 of 35 kicks at Georgia last season?
"He was rushing every kick. Every kick he missed, he hit them well, but he was much too fast with his get off time. I don't know if that was what he was coached to do, maybe that's what he wanted to do. Usually you watch the ball get snapped to start (the) approach. I have him watching the holder's hands. When the holder lifts up his left hand, that's when he's going. That's what I've been coaching for years."- Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer

I picked up Justin Tucker in all my leagues instead. The Ravens K should be money this year. If he wasnt a no-name, I think he wouldve been long gone.

Top ten kickers usually come from winning teams. Minnesota is projected to finish under .500 this season. It's as simple as that.

Following up on the idea that kickers from winning teams tend to outperform their losing counterparts, Walsh will make the most sense in games in which the Vikings figure to be competitive or even favored, as in last week. Not that it's that simple, but don't miss the obvious correlation here.
