No sling thus far for Pats RB Dillon

Running back Corey Dillon was present during the media-access period in the locker room today. He didn't answer questions from reporters.

Dillon left Sunday's game in the second quarter with what the team reported was an arm injury (NBC reported it as a right arm injury). Dillon didn't return to the game.

Today in the locker room, Dillon didn't have his arm in a sling.

Dreaded GTD.

Just start Maroney as Dillon is likely to re injure it anyway.

Dillon's career is going downhill now. He's on his last legs, IMO.

One thing I wished that happened this off-season was a revisit to the injury list and punishments for not properly following it. Bellicheck uses it as a weapon, never letting anybody know who's injured, how severe etc. It's ridiculous how much of an effort they put in to make sure nobody knows (like the guy who blocked the camera when Dillon was hurt last week).

That cracking sound you just heard was Maroney fantasy owners' jaws breaking from sudden gigantic smiles.

Oh. I thought it was SA's foot.

What do people think the injury is? I'm thinking Dillon has a partially seperated shoulder. It sure looked like that two weeks ago. Then when he gets drilled, the same scenario unfolds each week.

Does Dillon offer much that Maroney doesn't? I'm a Dillon owner and wondering if it's time to unload.
Dillon is probably the best short yardage runner in the NFL right now. Maroney is not a bad short yardage runner by any means, but Dillon excels at it. That's about the only thing he has on Maroney right now.

I guess he also has Belichick's trust, which is important.
That's a good point, but I think Maroney has gained a lot of BB's trust so far this year. The fact that he was in there for more and more passing downs while they were losing to Denver on Sunday shows that I believe.

I think Dillon's gonna play, plus Maroney didn't run particularly well last week anyway.
I disagree. Denver was tough against the run, and there weren't too many holes to run through. If you didn't notice Maroney's excellent 31 yard run after a quick dump off by Brady, you weren't watching the game. Maroney has mad skills.

Yeah. For what it's worth, I agree with you and I think Maroney will be a bona fide stud. Just trying to figure out when the tide will officially turn.

i didn't see too many holes opened up
no joke.. Maroney had somebody on him as soon as he was given the ball. There was really nowhere to run, it's gonna be crucial that Brady and his recievers get going to open up something for Maroney. Good game planning on Denvers part.

i've conditioned myself to think that it won't be this season so that if it is, it will be a pleasant surprise.

Not saying he doesn't have skills, I think he's gonna be a huge stud - next year. This year he splits with Dillon IMO unless Dillon goes down with injury. Dillon looks pretty good too.

hah, i do the same thing. In the NFL, no matter what you think may happen it is usually something off the wall that will end up happening.

I credit Denver's defense here. That is a damn fast unit, and the Pats' O-line did not run block very well in this game.

I agree that Dillon/Maroney will continue to split time. The big question in my mind will be how much they limit Dillon going forward. Dillon has had limited playing time and hasn't been able to stay healthy. I could see Maroney getting more carries than Dillon here on out, with Dillon being used more for short yardage and goal line plays to keep him healthy.Dillon has looked good, but it is obvious he is wearing down.
