Noah's Ark Replica in Kentucky (1 Viewer)

It seems like it was created, at least in part, to demonstrate that the ark could have been built and that the flood could have happened.  I wonder how many visitors will leave with the opposite impression.

How have they managed the feed and water situation?

Or did Noah and his menagerie live off manna from heaven?

Somewhere around 2%, I would guess.

I don't think people are coming there with an investigative mind.  I think you will have true believers, coming for the photo op (and the amazing restaurants!!  Chicken-fried something-or-other!!).

I said 2%, because I assume some will be dragging kids along, that cannot believe their parents took them to the middle of Kentucky to see a wooden boat stuffed with fat inbreds.

Everyone has an investigative mind. Even those who believe that it happened may be wondering how it was built. Using modern construction technology kind of undermines that narrative.

Also I'm surprised this isn't right next door to the Creation Museum. They're targeting the same audience.

Aside from the technology and required man power, I am impressed that Noah was able to obtain so much lumber in the middle of the desert.

With regard to the Creation Mueseum...it is odd since they seem to sell combination tickets for both attractions.

Does the ark also show recreations of the giant piles of poop that would have been generated by some of the larger animals?

All I can say, is that when the next BIG FLOOD hits...

...Imma happy to be in Kentucky.

Since I get a state funded ticket for 2, I am accepting bids for the 2nd side of the prize.

PM me your best offer.

I read somewhere that they established the company as a "for profit" in order to qualify for tax incentives.

But then the city that provides them their police and fire services approved a $0.50 tax on each ticket sold to cover the increased costs of providing them services. They then claimed they shouldn't be subject to such tax because they are a "non-profit".

Then the day before they were to receive notice that they were denied the non-profit tax exemption, they sold the assets to one of their subsidiaries that is setup as a non-profit.

Basically they are screwing over the locals.

And I've also read the local businesses haven't seen any increase in the local economy of any significance.

This has a happy ending - Kentucky Officials Have Ended the $18 Million Tax Rebate Deal With Ark Encounter

The Creationists running Ark Encounter just screwed themselves out of $18 million over the next decade because they didn’t want to pay a local safety fee worth about $700,000 a year.

We already knew Creationists were ignorant about science.

Turns out they don’t know how to do math, either.

Actually reading the article...the ark was undamaged by the rains but they washed out an access road that cost a million to repair.  Tnat’s what the insurance fight is over.

Ark...working as intended.
