Non-kickers and scoring....how is your league handling it? (1 Viewer)

Yesterday we saw 2 non-kickers attempt PATs. One was made by Wes Welker and one was missed by N.Suh (hilarious to watch btw) My league penalizes kickers for missing PATs so should Suh get the minus points in this situation? As it stands, Suh isn't getting minus points because he's listed as an IDP and they don't get credit for offensive scoring stats on CBS. But since Welker is getting credit for making his PAT, then shouldn't Suh lose points for missing his? What about when an offensive player makes a tackle after an INT or fumble? They don't get credit for that on CBS either. I'm afraid of opening a can of worms here depending on the ruling I make. I can see people saying they should credit for tackles from their WRs in some close weeks and I have to go digging through play by plays and box scores.

If offensive players don't get credit for making a tackle on an INT in your scoring system, then defensive players shouldn't get credit for offensive stats (kicks for one, coming in as an eligible receiver at the goal line another). Your scoring system probably lists clearly in the rules page what kind of stats count for which positions, and which ones don't. Kickers, WRs, QBs... all offensive players so they all get the benefit. Wes gets a 1 point XP, that's OK... same as when LaDainian Tomlinson throws a TD pass... just an offensive player racking up offensive stats.

Stick with what you're league's already been doing rather than worry about this one instance. This situation isn't unique, I'm sure there have been many cases before already this season that you just didn't notice yet, whether it be a defender coming in as a WR or a player making a tackle on a turnover.

So, no, no negative points for Suh for missing, and no points if he'd made it either.

If I was commish, I'd let the site handle it unless your rules specify otherwise. My leagues are on Yahoo and the players get credit for the kicks. Also, offensive players get credit for tackles made just like an IDP.

It's pretty simple every player sccores for every stat they get regardless of position.

If kickers can get points for scoring a TD, then other players should get points for scoring a PAT.

When I played fantasy football in the early '90s, we actually had a few players who got 1 point for running in a PAT.
