Not starting Cassell could derail my season (1 Viewer)

So there's 44 points on my bench. Rodgers better step it up after last week, when I should have started Cassell then too. Ugh.

Going forward, who would you rather rely on as your starter?

Guy in my league started him over Rivers and we were all making fun of him before the game. Point is you can never tell. You cant beat yourself up about it as it was only his 2nd good fantasy game of the year.

Have Cassel but wouldn't have started him either, the guy had a career game but thats it for this year..can't throw a ball more then 20 yards there is a problem.

:excited: If you're able to hit the out route and you're mobile in the pocket you can survive in the NFL. Considering this is his first full season playing since high school and he just did something that hasn't been done since 1970 (400 yds passing, 60 yds rushing) I'm gonna go ahead and say he will have a place somewhere even if he doesn't fully pan out there.

Welcome to the world of fantasy football, glad you could join us ...

I had him on my bench as well as he was not supposed to have the monster game he did, oh well no need to torture yourself over it ...

The games dictate what kind of a day a QB will have. NE trailed early and Cassel had to pass almost every down. If NE get up early and score a couple of rushing TDs it is a different game for the QB.

I love it when I have the QB and his team is trailing big early in the game.

He and the 42.20 points he put up were on on my bench as well. I have Peyton penciled in as my starter, but no way would I have started Cassell over Peyton. This is just part of the fantasy game.

Cassel's newfound scrambling ability adds a whole new dimension to his fantasy value, and to his game. If he can start nailing the deep ball, he could be very dangerous. That 4th quarter drive and the TD pass to Moss were pretty amazing.

Yep, that's it. Especially in 1 pt for every 10 yards rushing.

I did the same thing, who would've guessed Cassel would have a game like that?
The answer to your question is, "Me."  All kidding aside, I figured that NEP would have to throw a lot because NYJ's run defense is pretty good. My alternatives were Jason Campbell and Jeff Garcia, so that made taking a chance a bit easier.

Of course hindsight is 20-20, but couldn't Cassell's success been predicted a little better by FBG? We know NYJ is a run stopping team and that teams will try to beat them through the air. We know NE was missing Thomas on defense and that Favre can light up most any defense anway. Maybe I expect too much from our experts to have had Cassell ranked higher knowing he would be playing catchup more likely than not. Thigpen put up 280/2 on the Jets after all.Ok my rant is over.

I had picked up Cassel for his playoff schedule, in the event that Cutler got hurt, but I can't kick myself for not starting him. Nobody could've predicted that.

I'm just going to take it as a good sign that he's worth keeping on my roster as Cutler insurance. And I'm not going to look at his points. I'm not.

With the way the Jets defense had been playing, I don't see how anyone would have started him unless they had no other decent choices.

Well, Brady's job is not in jeopardy. But I have to hand it to Belichick here. He didn't go out and hire some over the hill qb, but took someone who wasn't even a starter in college, and designed a strategy that would play to his strengths. He'll be a backup, but a first class one. I suspect Cassel is going to get better and better as he gains more experience. He might even learn to hang it up there for Moss to go get it.

In a 14 team, start 2 QB league, just made a trade for Cassell that was accepted on Tuesday morning. Desperately needed Cassell as the QB injury bug hit my squad hard, leaving me with only Flacco as a starter. Was really depending on the trade clearing by Thursday so I could slot Cassell in what I thought woould be a hard-fought game.

In Yahoo's FF infinite fantasy administrative excellence, trade STILL has not cleared as of this morning. Starting Cassell would have helped inordinately in giving me a win in an 8-man race for what looks to be two remaining playoff spots.

Yargh. Rant over. Now you know.

He has a long way to go in that regard. I was at last night's game and I sat up in the upper section (so I had a bird's eye view) and he didnt seem to have any sort of feel on anything over 10 yards. Maybe that will come with time.

I don't think I'd call it amazing. The catch was great by Moss and Cassel did a good job finding him, but the Jets were playing 3 deep safeties and only rushing 3 that entire drive. That drive had nothing to do with Cassel's talent level and everything to do with the Jets hoping that time would run out before they could score. Also on the TD play, the Jets had been playing Moss effectively by putting a man up in his face, but for some reason on that play they gave him a 10 yard cushion. I don't want to take away from the game Cassel had because he was impressive and posted great stats and showed the pose to take what the D was giving him on the last drive and not panicking. But don't take too much out of that last drive, there's a good portion of NFL quarterbacks that would have reproduced that same result.
