Notable CUTS - 2024 (1 Viewer)

D’onta Foreman - that’s a surprise.

Ford looking like a really nice play for at least the first month.

ETA: Deamon beat me to it.

Houston isn't dropping Keenum, but he is on IR for the rest of the season. They did just drop rookie Jawhar Jordan though.

Not a cut, but Tony Jefferson made the Chargers.

Tony Jefferson was on those Cardinal teams when Bowles was the DC. They used to run 3 S sets, and were so much fun to watch. Honey Badger, Deon Buchanon, etc.

That was so long ago, it was two Todd Bowles head coaching jobs ago. Good for him!

Not a cut but 49ers placed RB Elijah Mitchell on injured reserve, ending his season.

That sucks I just drafted CMC and him today but took Mason as well but still wasted pick I have to wait until after week 1 for waivers.

This might be the end to a career here in SF as they drafted a guy in 4th and picked up another as a FA rookie.

Mitchell had a good run for about a year and a half.

Patrick and Perine officially released by Broncos. Somewhat surprising no one offered a 7th for those guys by I'm sure someone will grab them off the WW.

Why would anyone trade for them when it was widely known they were going to be cut. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Not like these guys are spring chickens I would been surprised if anyone traded for them.

Sure that Mitchell isn't an IR return guy? Team can IR 2 guys and designate them for return (which is new this year)

Because if you're a low-priority waiver team in need of a solid veteran depth piece then a 7th is a pittance to give up

Last year Denver did the exact same thing with lesser-talented TE Albert O. and managed a 6/7 pick swap with the Eagles

Deneric Prince
Myles Gaskin
John Ross
Andy Isabella
James Robinson
Tim Boyle
Brandon Johnson
Anthony Miller
Mike Boone
Miles Boykin
Irv Smith
KJ Hamler
The other St. Brown
Nate Peterman -- notable for how long he's lasted in the league despite being utterly terrible

Pitt QBs
Ben DiNucci was cut

I'll tell you who should have been cut Kenny Pickett. There's already an article or 2 that goes guys who can replace Kenny.

Foreman for the Browns, damn that was unexpected. Well, it says they terminated his contract.

Do they really just run Ford and Strong for the first 4 weeks?

"Built Ford Strong" lol
I dont know. Ford looked like the real deal when he was forced to start last year. I think this will work out just fine. they may bring in a veteran who is currently unsigned to stabilize the room but I dont see any major moves to cover only a 4 game stint. even if that expands to 6 or 7 games, I think Ford can get it done.

Oh I'm not worried about Ford, more wondering if they will run with only 2 guys on the roster.

That has worked out great for them

they will probably sign someone. I've no doubt of that.

I was thinking that they are thinking about having to guarantee a season's worth of paychecks to a guy who they may only need till Chubb gets back.

Any player on the final 53 has their salary guaranteed for the season. You play one game, they cut you, they pay you for the year.

But any player you pick up after the season starts, you only pay them for the weeks they are on the roster. They can resign Foreman after game 1, and only have to pay him till Chubb is back.

Just a thought

Ya I heard they might re-sign him. Does it have to be AFTER game 1 or could they do some sort of contract before week 1 that wouldn't guarantee him for the full year? (not sure how that all works)

Funny you ask that, because I have this kernel of a memory that there's a bunch of shuffling after waiver run, and guys that are cut come back.

I don't know for sure
