I am 2-8 and officially out of the playoffs.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do now. Our trade dealine is gone and while we have a keeper option, no Free Agents picked up can be kept

Just wondering what others who are in the same position as me are doing

In times like these I just become a fan and follow my Steelers. When times like this occur and and the Steelers are eliminated I start gambling to have a reason to watch. On that note I think a great idea for a person out of their fantasy leagues but who still want to root for certain players is gambling on those players. Sites like Bodog offer lines based on a players performance.

be a spoiler. Play matchups rather than players (makes you research a bit more before games)
Unfortunately for me, my team is so bad that I do not even have a roster to spoil anythingThanks for the suggestion though, I never give up on the league or the team. Its just not in my nature

I LOVE BEING THE SPOILER.
I don't, that would mean my team sucks.
I kicked an archrival out of a playoff spot 3 years ago on the last game of the regular season with a monster performance from Billy Volak of all players. I still remember that and so does he - even after winning two league championships this is the game I remember the most and so does he.

This is why I love being in a deep keeper/dynasty league.

While the current season may be over, the interest level never ends as you try to uncover future guys (including some dropped by other owners who are playing for this year).

Unfortunately, the OP is in a league where free agent and waiver pickups aren't eligible to be keepers. That said... :hijacked: ... some of us are in leagues where we are allowed to keep anyone on our roster. In my league, I'm even allowed to keep guys I pick up in the offseason (except rookie draft picks). I was able to pick up Ron Dayne, for example, when he was named the starter for the Broncos in April (even though I ended up not retaining him), but i couldn't have picked up Reggie Bush even though he was on CBS's free agent list in June.Anyway, who are the targets this year for guys that may be worth picking up in free agency/waivers as the season winds down with an eye on next year in Keeper leagues? With an eye toward both 1) a legitimate keeper you might actually hold on to if you don't have another better choice, or, 2) a keeper you're keeping rostered but won't retain to prevent other teams from getting him (I kept Larry Johnson and Rudi Johnson in a my keeper league, for example, but still stacked up on RBs just to prevent other teams from getting some good Free Agent backs late in the season, and forcing them to use the next year's draft to pick up my castoffs while I drafted the top players at other positions). Some guys who may be Free Agents in some leagues and are worth a consideration as long-shot keepers:Domanick DavisRicky WilliamsDamon Huard (in a couple of weeks, his showing could land him a starter job next year)Michael Turner (some short-bench leagues he's still a FA, 70% ownership on Sportsline)Jerious Norwood (only 57% ownership on Sportsline)Trent Green (52% ownership)Kurt WarnerDaunte CulpepperDrew BledsoeBilly VolekAmani ToomerSam GadoChris BrownVernon DavisRobert FergusonBrandon StokleyThis is how I've dominated my keeper league for years. In the past, as soon as the season ended, I picked up IR guys like Steve Smith in '04 and Javon Walker in '05 to build a good lineup for the next year. Larry Johnson was a free agent halfway through '04, I picked him up late in the season and used a keeper pick on him in '05 to build my RB core.Anyone else? I may spin this off in it's own thread later in the season, sorry for the hijack...

I would definitely spin it off in another thread. It would get a lot of play during the balance of season and into the offseason.

i've gone head-to-head with other players that are out of it. $20/week or whatever.

also do this during the nfl playoffs. draft a new starting roster each week, based on the available players. just another something to root for, and who doesn't like drafting?

If being a fan of my favorite team and gambling make me sad than color me depressed.

Forgot another name, Byron Leftwich. Change of scenery could be coming, and he could easily end up on a pass-first team that suits his talents. I'll be spinning this off in the next week or two, just wanted to remind myself :) . Finding the guys the fantasy magazine are going to tab as "upside" "sleeper" guys and forcing your opponents to use their early picks on them makes value plays later in the draft even more valuable.
