NY Jets at Miami (1 Viewer)

Ajayi is OK, but the field is not. The Jets are playing the run in first down - Miami needs to use mis-direction/play action like on the first drive.

That was some awful coverage by the Dolphins. What is going on with them?
McCown's has good pocket presence and mobility for a 38 year old; that helped on several plays. On the TD to ASJ, Alonso made a fundamental mistake per the announcers - he was supposed to cover the TE man-to-man when the QB broke containment. McCown has been always on target in this game, even on the incompletions.

The primary WR on the left (Kearse maybe) was totally uncovered as well.

That was terrible by McCown.   Bad throw and worse decision, Miami was playing to take away the sidelines

Defies belief. Everyone watching the game figured they run out the clock as they did at the end of the half, or go over the middle where it was open. If you get a gainer think about it, but otherwise play for OT.

Joshh McCown in his 15th season made a rookie error on the first play after the defense got a stop. How was that not discussed on the sideline before the offense went out.

Shockingly bad football.

So why does Adam Gase hate Jay Ajayi?

Yes, it worked, whatever.

I'm pretty sure Ajayi has yet to touch the ball when they were inside the 5 this year. :wall:

Thought it was because they never get there, but they got there today and still nothing.  Have Gase and Sean Payton switched bodies?

The Miami DB was playing the inside WR and then switched to the outside WR. It was more of a good play by the DB.

Yeah I noticed that watching the game too.  Every time they got inside the 5 they went shotgun and spread the field.  I guess it was working (other than the Offensive pass interference....don't run a pick play on 1st down you fools) but was kind of bizarre to watch.

The Fins had only run two plays inside the 5 this year coming into this game, both passes.  So on the season they've run 7 plays inside the five, 7 passes.

I have loathed J Cutler, that dismissive snarl he sports that always looks like he just suspected whoever is nearest him of cutting a rank fart, and his vibe-killing body language since he was a failed Bronco (remember that!?)

I have been a Matt Moore backer since that Preseason TV show (its name escapes me--dammit Ricky!!) when Tannehill was anointed the starting job by that dweeby coach from Green Bay (don't ask me that name either, but I CAN tell you he had only slightly more charisma than Cutler).

And I was never quite all-in on Tannehill; it just seemed like everyone in the front office has always wanted Tannehill to be better a better QB than he really is. And that extended as far as giving him the job (and the gaudy contract that went with it!) when he and Moore were always basically just as capable as each other. However, Tannehill has some charm and a hot wife that played well on the screen... Anyway, Armchair Psychology lesson over-- but frankly I wasn't bummed when Tannehill went down until I heard the Gase-Cutler bromance rumors... YUCK!!!

How this team has won anything since laying those two massive turds last month is nothing short of amazing. But ultimately, what I'm trying to say is:

 Don't get well soon Jay!

At the snap Bobby McCain was between the hash and the numbers, six yards off the slot receiver. When the ball is hiked, he goes straight down toward the sideline. The slot receiver has a free release, McCain was never covering him. He didn’t go outside receiver either, he goes to a spot, does a jump pivot once he gets there, scanning the field & in particular looks to see if the outside receiver is running the out or a comeback. It’s zone coverage all the way, and his job is to undercut the route. He was sitting on the route & that's exactly the coverage you should expect with 47 seconds left in a tie game & the Jets on their own 15. It was a horrible read by McCown.
