NYPD/FDNY Hockey Brawl (1 Viewer)

I feel like this happened in an episode of Rescue Me.
That was a case of art imitating reality.

For whatever reason, there has been no love lost between the NYPD and FDNY, and this is not the first incident at their annual charity hockey game. Just never seemed to escalate like this.

All this after they stood side by side during and after 9/11 - very sad.

Meh, incidents like this happen all across the country between firemen and police. There was just an incident in SoCal where a police officer actually arrested a fireman for not obeying his order to move (it appeared the fireman had somewhat of a legitimate reason for not doing so). Heck, even at my gym the two groups give each other ####.

Really? It's "very sad"?
Yes, wiseass, it's pretty sad, especially for those that live and/or work in NYC and still remember 9/11 very vividly.

Both groups lost a lot of members in the towers and worked together to help each other. Fast forward to today when they can't even get along at a charity hockey game - I call it sad. Maybe pathetic is a better word.

Link to the last 20 on 20 45 minute police-firefighter brawl?

Yes, and they would do it all over again. What's the big deal? It's no secret that there has always been tension between the two. A lot of testosterone flying around. But when push comes to shove, they're on the same team and most likely have a deep love of NYC.

It's a freakin' hockey game. :lmao:

I'm sure those that attended the charity event this year will boycott it next year.

I think police and firemen don't get along across the country. I think a part of the problem is that in a lot of big cities, the firemen's 12-hour shift work (four days on, four days off) leads to more part time work possibilities. A lot of police have 8 hour shifts (6 days on, two days off).

Hockey is great. Would have been the same result if they were playing softball, checkers, or quittitch
Yea, cause there are tons of incidents of bench clearing brawls in those sports. I actually like hockey, but the fighting thing is dumb enough in the NHL. When it makes it way down to a charity event it is even more preposterous. The fact that fans are OK with it because there is bad blood between these two groups is laughable.

I think you are right. I coach Little League along with some local cops, and they do seem to look down upon firemen.

Every fireman I know has a side business. Everyone I meet seems to be a workaholic.
