Oakland and Brooks (1 Viewer)

I had LaMont Jordan tagged as my #2 RB, but after watching last nights game coupled with the HOF game, Brooks proves to still be a completely useless QB.

I can't beleive how terrible this guy looks at times.

When he was in there, this offense looked like the Ravens offense with Boller behind center. Then miraculously, enter new QB, and good things start to happen.

I am sure that Art Shell won't let Brooks leash go NEAR as long as hard headed Brian Billick did with Boller, but any length of time Brooks is in there, I don't see this offense doing anything.

Add in the penalties, and this team really looked horrible last night. The good news is: It's preseason and penalties are fixable though this team has led the NFL in penalties for the last three years.

This team looked lost last night.

It's pre-season so hard to make calls. However I have been saying this all night. The Raiders are in a early rebuilding state. They are untested really with a new (old) coach and QB. I am stepping away from anything Raider unless I can get them as a cheap back up. There are too many solid teams out there with players and coaches that know each other and the system.

Yes the Raiders looked bad, but they were using a silent count last night (in preseason?) and that didn't help matters.

LamJ looked better than in Canton, which isn't saying much.

I think they will improve (hard not to) over those two performances, and if the line is really that bad LamJ will get 50-60 catches or more again this year just for Brooks getting rid of the ball.

As for Walters vs. Brooks - Brooks was under way more duress than Walters. Walters seemed to have all day to throw deep or outside to Morant, and Brooks was running for his life.

Tom Walsh <-------------- Your public enemy #1

If you're into retro, you're going to love Walsh because his offense is straight out of the 1970's. Watching Al Davis in the press box will most remind you of your grandparents slow-dancing to Benny Goodman in the living room.

Can you explain how you expected to get him in the 2nd round as your #2 RB anyways?
We do an auction style draft so I have some more flexibiltiy than the traditional style draft. It's all in how you carve up your $$$ on draft day.
Preseaon performance might lower the price for Jordan, and I'm not counting him out yet. You might be able to get him cheaper. Him and Portis.

I have Stephen Jackson as a keeper from last season so I was hoping to get some more solid production from that slot. He may pan out and put up the numbers from last year, but after last nights performance from Brooks, I'm not so confident.I will definitely be taking a look at their next few preseason games before making that decision.

things to consider:

- the raiders line was terrible last night

- it's not even a regular season game.

- no continuity on offense, with new staff/players everywhere.

- did i mention it's a meaningless preseason game? the kind where brooks is liable to not take seriously...

brooks is a risk/reward QB. as long as he has weapons around him then he can be effective. i would feel nervous with him as my #1 QB but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater....

From the two preseason games it appears that they are keeping LJ in front of Brooks and blocking, instead of Jordan going for the dump off.

How is this supposed to make me feel better? - a terrible o-line coached by Art Shell? If there's one part of the team that I'd expect to improve from last year it would be the line.

- we know it's regular season, but your offense is supposed to show some hint of knowing what the hell it's doing.

- What continuity problems are you referring to aside from staff? The skill positions are all unchanged from last year aside from Brooks. I agree the coaching staff and its new scheme need time to gel.

- We should be ok with Brooks because he doesn't care? :loco:
