Ocho to NE it's official (1 Viewer)

Man, I hate the Patriots.

Love or hate him, Ocho is a physical specimen and loves the game. He's in the best possible situation and set up to succeed. His addition to the Pats makes them a far more dangerous team on offense.....especially since the Pats cheat on a regular basis (very bitter)

Really curious to see where his ADP ends up. I really want him on my team this year. I don't believe he's lost a step. He's always trained very hard despite what his off field antics lead most people to believe. While I like Palmer, his arm just hasn't had the same zip it did before the arm injury. I think this has led to Chad's perceived decline. Hopefully that is enough to keep his value down, making him a steal this year.

Wow, you must REALLY hate them... ;)

I'm going to take the different spin on this one and say I think this really HURTS Welker.Physically, Chad is not the same guy he was when he was 27...granted. But what he is (and I know people will either just agree with this or scratch their head), is intelligent. He is very mentally aware of everything he is doing. And I think that its the lack of interest from being on a dog team with numerous distractions the past few years that has taken away from what he can really do.He IS a very good route runner and you don't need to be an all world speed guy to be successful when you run routes; especially with Tom Brady. I think Brady will really like that and Chad will be very focussed this and into games this year and will realize that this really is his SHOT at a ring...with this team...right now. So, I see it going like this: Much like Indy, Welker becomes the guy that still ahs his day with the right matchups, much like Clark and collie and everyone else that the Colts feature in the slot sometimes. but Chad becomes Reggie Wayne. Not the fastest guy anymore, but the guy that runs the routes, goes over the middle, can move around, and Brady uses him and Chad becomes the guy that is the WEEKLY candidate to rack up the number of catches each week, the mid range TDs, the best total yards for the week. I'm not saying he will be Reggie Wayne that ends up with 170 targets and 100+ catches each years, but he can be the guy that ends up with 75-85 catches, 1000+ and 8-10 Tds.I really expect this year to be a top WR15 season for Chad.
Did Chad's presence hurt Houshmandzadeh? :no:Chad doesn't go over the middle. He hasn't done this for about 3 or 4 years now. It is possible that it'll be different with Brady (Carson did have a way of timing his throws in such a fashion that his WRs would often get clobbered, it is true). But I don't think that's why he's there. Welker will be fine.-QG

Lol, sorry about that. I just noticed that. I don't know why it posted four times. But I do really, really hate the Pats

Expect a career year for Chad. From 2003-2007 he was a top 10 fantasy wr. He hasn't lost a step folks. This will be a career year for Chad.
I'm not so sure. An over-the-hill Terrell Owens came to town and made Chad Johnson seem like he was a JV player by comparison. I think Johnson's best days are behind him.
And if Randy Moss could be irrelevant when on the field in NE, so could Chad Johnson. He's definitely a bump, but I wouldn't want to depend on a resurgence. Of course, he's the perfect candidate for people who ignored the WR position. They'll chase the upside and draft him earlier than I am comfortable doing.

Greg Cosell made the following observations on Chad via Twitter:

Greg Cosell

Chad better route runner v. man than zone. Not reliable v. zone. Pats pass game not as much anticipation based as Bengals. Still has quicks.

Greg Cosell

Chad's game was always more lateral quickness than vertical explosiveness. Still showed lateral ability in 2010. Pats not a vertical team.

On a funny note, he has started discussions with Hernandez on securing #85:

Mike Reiss

Told that Ochocinco offered up his Toyota Prius, Hernandez said he prefers the Lamborghini.

Hernandez allows 'free' passage of No. 85

By Mike Rodak

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- For well-established veterans, their identity is often tied to their jersey number. When these players join new teams, it is customary that players further down the pecking order will relinquish that number, often with a small monetary sum exchanged.

When Chad Ochocinco arrived in Foxboro yesterday, his number is more than just his brand: it's his last name. Tight end Aaron Hernandez could have held out for the best offer from Ochocinco, but instead, Hernandez let his No. 85 jersey pass to the former Bengals receiver for free.

"We're playing at a high level, so all of us have a decent amount of money. I definitely should have [asked for compensation], but I didn't," Hernandez laughed. "It was just a welcome to the team. ...I thought he may look better and play better in 85, because that's his last name. So why not give it to him."

Hernandez, in his return to practice on Saturday morning, donned a No. 81 jersey, formerly worn by wide receiver Randy Moss last season, and undrafted rookie receiver Jeremy Ross this training camp.

"I had a chance to get my college number [81] back, and [Ochocinco] obviously wanted 85," Hernandez explained. "It wasn't a problem. So I thought he deserved it and should get it."

Ochocinco was most likely ready to make a financial offer to the second-year tight end, so Hernandez's generosity must have surely come as a surprise.

"As soon as [Ochocinco] came in, he was smiling, so I knew he was going to talk to me about the number," Hernandez said. "I obviously could have [said]: 'no, I don't want to give it up.' But I'm not that type of person. [No.] 81 was the jersey that I wanted when I came here, but [Randy] Moss had it, so it actually worked out perfectly."

Cool of Hernandez to play it that way. Also great to see Ocho leave Cincy in such a classy way when he could have easily thrown stones on his way out the door. I wish him nothing but the best in New England.

I just dont see Chad having much value this year. Everyone is talking about how he's gonna have a big year. If anything, I see him being over drafted
