****Offical 2009 World Series Thread**** (1 Viewer)

Congrats to Yankee fans, pretty much the best team from May on and you beat the hottest team, the 2nd best team in the AL, and the defending champs. Good stuff.

The Yankees win.... the Yankees win!!!

Phillies are tough as nails though. Any other AL team would have fallen in this series.

Congrats to the Yankees on their newly purchased World Series Championship.

Proud of my Phils for a great run and looking forward to a fun one next year too.

Much props to the Phillies

Was never comfortable with them in the other dugout

That's a tough team that never quits

Lot of respect for Charlie Manuel also

Great baseball lifer

God Righetti's dumb.

I'm happy that TU and Swisher are getting rings, bummed that Chamberlain's getting one.

Congrats Yankee fans, you played the better ball and deserved to win.

If Chase and Chooch had anyone else helping out, it would've been a much closer series. We have the same team comng back, so don't be surprised to see us back here next year.

110 days til pitchers and catchers report!!!

WHEW.... :banned: Tired...

I'd give the MVP to Rivera because that is the difference when you know you only need to get 7 innings.

I'm so happy for Girardi after all the #### he takes...

Hats off to the Phillies..... Baseball Playoffs / World Series are funny - I'm not sure why people get so nutty when one team comes back from a hole... That's what happens when 2 evenly talented teams are matched up - and One swing of the bat can change everything...A few times last night you can picture Philly getting the big hit and making it much tighter - Win that game and the momentum is as HUGE as can be.... Always tough to close these things out.

Again, Huge Props to the Phillies... I'm an official Philly fan now for the National League - Beat the Mets all you can.... Take it out on them!!!!

Wish I could have been there!!!!!

Great series. The Phillies are a good team and I won't be surprised to see them go deep again next year.

Matsui as the MVP blew my mind until I saw the numbers. Only 3 players in baseball history hit 3 HR's and batted .500 or above in the World Series - Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Hideki Matsui. Jack that BA to .600 and the only players are Ruth and Matsui. Unreal. Still, I really though Rivera was going to get it.

In fact this was a great series for numbers like that all around with Utley and what not.

27!

Congrats to the Yankees and their fans. A good series with the 2 best teams in baseball and the better team won.

Hot Stove - 9 days away

Pitchers and catchers in 106 days

Another feel good story for Matsui....Wouldn't you think though that by now, if that were your average FBG, you would be able to say enough English quotes to finish an interview like that - at least say "Yankee #1..." Or "Base-a-ball has been berry berry good to me"......I also think they should have had some access to cameras in Tokyo to see the reactions (if any at all) every time he smacked a pitch....Nice exclamation point on his Yankee career, if that was it.

:goodposting: Matsui was just awesome, wow what a performance. Congrats to Yank fans everywhere and also to the Phillies, 2 great teams provided a great world series. Can't wait until hot stove talk/free agency!!

Something dawned on me last night. Mussina started with the Yankees in 2001 & retired in 2008. :jawdrop: Gotta feel bad for him there. The curse of Mussina is over.

Congrats to all the Yankee fans here....jobarules, Mike Brown, esp ScottNorwood and others. Enjoy this time. I can imagine it feels like nothing else.

Was nice to have a really good series with two really good teams. Must see TV.

Super congrats to Jeter and Mo. As much as I dislike the Yankees, I can't help but root for both of you. I even have to give congrats to A-Rod.

Mark Teixeira.....you are still a ##### and a loser. I hope you lose your ring the first week you have it. (Sorry, can't help it.)

:lmao: Thanks Boge. Atmosphere was awesome last night, especially outside about a half hour after all the on-field stuff. Babe Ruth Plaza was OUT OF CONTROL! I had never been there for a WS clincher...very different from watching it on TV as a teenager.Afterwards we drove down into Times Square and there were cars beeping all over the place and people yelling let's go Yankees on every other corner...pretty awesome stuff. I got to bed around 4:30...now THAT part I do remember from my teen age years!27!

Debating whether I should goto the parade.
:nerd: What kind of fan are you? ;)
Ive gone to two parades in the past and while theyre a blast the thought of standing for 6 straight hours in the cold and not being able to goto the bathroom, eat, sit, or move isnt as exciting to me as it was in the past. Not sure if my old 32 YO back can take it anymore.
My 32 YO back took it fine last year, wouldn't miss it.

Go to the parade. I would if I could. And it broke my heart last night when they showed the overhead shot of the old stadium and it was just black hole. Got dusty as I had to explain to my son what that huge dark spot on the TV was.

SWEET!!!!!! :hifive: Seems like they swept us out of the stadium a lot quicker than last night in 96' - I don't think they had all that on field stuff back then - Or I was too drunk and running around hugging people to remember.. I remember the Boggs stuff and all but seems like we were outside fast....But, once outside it was NUTZ... And no cars turned over or riots just a Championship party in the Bronx.... Then like you, Midtown NYC....1:30 was late enough for me last night... :banned:

a :lmao: to all the classy Philly fans congratulating us Yankee fans. We saw two very similar teams that never quit until the 27th (or sometimes later) out. The extra depth the Yankees have did pay off for bench help and DH as well as a little deeper pen (Marte).

I guess the 3 days rest was a little overblown, eh?

Marte was huge.

At the end of the day Utley didn't have as much support around him as the Yankee team did.

Getting to the WS 2 years in a row is a great feat, I hope the Yankees can do it next year.

For next year: The Yankees purged a lot of salaries last year and spent that money wisely. I have not looked at all the free agents, but purging Matsui and Damon would free up some money to do the same thing. Unless they are willing to take a 1 year or 2 year deal, I might dump both. I would also consider trading Melky and Hughes in a deal to get a stud OF. We could also steal Jason Bay from the Red Sox ;)

Peace all

Lovefest over. After hearing Teixeira thank God for leading him to the Yankees and his faithfulness paid off. Please....

Did God tell you to hit under the Mendoza Line for the playoffs?

And announcers talking about HOW LONG 9 years is between championships, I am fed up. I mean yeah, there are 8 year old Yankee fans that have NEVER seen a World Series win. They can now die happy.

#### the Yankees!! ####### mercenaries!!! 201 million buys one awkward celebration in the middle of Yankee Stadium.

Yeah Yankee, we took some pics/video last night of the old place just standing there across the street. I got a cool shot of a mass of people celebrating in the foreground and you can see the old lady in the background.Last night was a lot more sweet than bitter, but I don't know how well I'm gonna handle seeing it come down next week or whenever.

I think I like this Bogart guy.

Any you guys wonder why non-Yankee fans hate you.

If Goliath doesnt win every once in a while, the story of David becomes really boring.

I am just operating under the same budget...not increasing it so purging to buy is OK, isn't it?

LOL, really, I was getting tired of all these small market teams winning and getting into the playoffs all the time...such BS

Funny you say that, I was thinking that too but thought it was just because I'm a Phils fan and thought last year's was better.

It's fine. It just reinforces to the rest of us how much of a different reality it is for Yankees fans. Most of us are just wondering which of our own best players we're going to be able to keep and which one's we'll have to trade for prospects. You're talking about adding Jason Bay to an already stacked lineup. Even after all this time it's a bit hard to take.

Your still missing the point, I am talking about purging some of our existing guys (Matsui and Damon free up 26 mil in payroll) and then adding Bay at less than that.
