All of those cross sports though, right? London Knights are also a hockey team. Guessing that's the difference.
Kitchener Rangers are a hockey team, just like the London Knights. Their logo is pretty similar to the NY Rangers logo.

Is there some old connection there?

Google tells me they were originally "sponsored" by the NY Rangers, which apparently was a common practice for NHL teams back in the day. In 1968 the NYR sold the team to this dude for $1, who then turned it over to its season ticket holders.

So I think that's still the answer to your original question.

Screwed up big tonight.

Took my boy to the game, 3rd Ranger game I've taken him to in his life - They've lost like 17-4 in those 3 games. I want him to feel the excitement when the Rangers score a goal and win a game or at least play in a competitive game, hard for that to happen when the Penguins score 5 in the 2nd.

My real error was trying to take him to see the Thanksgiving balloons by 34th St Macy's. It didn't hit me until we got there; why the #### would the balloons be where the parade ends?

What an awful ####### game! He still had a blast, but still, they had like 14 SoG last I had checked, they just looked defeated even before the game got out of hand.

I feel like if there's hockey on in the middle of the afternoon, it confirms the fact that no one in this country should have needed to take a vacation day today.

Through two, the Wild are scoring with ease against the Penguins.  Dubnyk still a rock in goal.  Good warm-up before the Gophers and Northeastern game later today.

Wild have had serious trouble scoring but put up 4 and 6 against Pitt. Fun game to watch for Wild fans. Everyone knows the firepower the Penguins bring but the Wild D is pretty solid plus Dubnyk 1.5gaa. Stranglehold D teams make it tough for the Wild and a looser unit allows them to still stick to their own D system but open it up a little bit for their skill players.

Rude>Hi!

Not a lot to crow about this year as a Red Wings fan but Mantha's development has been one thing to note.  He's playing key minutes on the PP now and getting the chance to play with the Zetterbergs of the world which has definitely helped his growth.  He has the size, skill, and shot to to a very good player and we're starting to see what he can do.  He still is just a kid at 22 and once he learns to use his size to augment his skill, he's going to be very good IMO.

Tatar stinks, Nyquist is disappointing, and teams are throwing a lot of defense at Larkin so he's struggled as well.  Wings have some good pieces though, but they are going to need a couple of high picks to complete the rebuilding process.  Also I don't think anyone can complain about Nielson, he's been one of their best players this year and Vanek has been good also.

Also I think I miss Datsyuk more than I've ever missed another NHL player, maybe any athlete ever.
He misses your face.
Oh speaking of recently departed NHLers...

So I was invited to a charity event last weekend in Annapolis for Wounded Warriors and I met a guy from SoCal and we started talking hockey.  So he shows me a picture of him and another guy and asked me if I knew who it was?  Teemu, definitely Teemu.

So this guy is involved with several charities with Teemu including the one that benefits Wounded Warriors, and they go golfing and their wives hang out.  He was very matter of fact about it, and was actually surprised I thought it was so cool.  Anyway, he said Teemu is a terrific human and didn't even know he was a famous hockey player until someone told him after a few outings.  That's awesome, although all Ducks still suck except Teemu and maybe Cam Fowler.  ;)

Teemu is the best ever.    I've meet him several times when we had season tix.  My twins were pictured with him on a 5 x 8 postcard sent to all Ducks and Angels season tix holders for the Season tix Party at Disneyland when they were little.  He signed like two dozen of them for us at the party.  We saw him the next year at the party and he went out his way to say hi to my kids.  And then like 10-12 years later, he remembers them again at a season ticket only practice, which was cool, because we got to see his kids practice with him and then sit with them.  If you're ever in Laguna Beach, he owns an awesome Steak House.

Nash was a monster tonight. Really happy to see him playing so well. Not just because it's helping my team, but when he wasn't scoring much he was always playing an excellent defensive game which was largely overlooked.

Anyone have the latest on Dougie Hamilton?  Are the Flames going to trade him?

Now why would a team want to do that?

3. Treating Dougie right

The Calgary Flames recently completed a 3-2-1 road trip, which isn’t great. But when you’re also pretty bad — and the Flames are pretty pretty pretty pretty bad — you take what you can get. They were 6-11-1 going into the trip, so y’know.

And not for nothin’, but I think a big portion of their play comes because they started putting Dougie Hamilton alongside Mark Giordano, who can actually play hockey at an NHL level. This is a new and exciting turn of events for Hamilton, whose most common partner this season prior to the switch was Jyrki Jokipakka.

In fact, for the whole road trip, Hamilton carried adjusted 5v5 numbers in CF%/SCF%/xGF% of 55.4/50.6/51.3. Before that he was 52.2/44.5/48.1.

He can be a great defensemen if you don’t tie an anchor to his waist. And him being a great defenseman also, y’know, makes the whole team better. Crazy!

I was listening to this interview (TSNRadio) he's most pissed that this leaked out at all. Said a team made an "insulting offer" after being told Hamilton wasn't available, then told another team they'd made an offer so word got out that way. Then, because it's Burke, he spent about 45 seconds ranting about Toronto media, while saying the leak didn't actually come from Toronto.

In all seriousness, seems like moving him would make plenty of sense. They have a ton of money invested in defense, two of those guys have NMC, he would have more value than Brodie, and young RH PMD are probably the highest valued assets behind 1Cs.

Bob McKenzie speculated that Toronto will move a winger for a dman at some point b/c they are overloaded at the position. He thinks van Riemsdyk would be the most likely player to move in a deal.

Leafs are going to be a team that wins 5-3 one night and look great, then lose 4-0 two nights later and look like the worst team in hockey.  The truth is somewhere in-between.
