Man, I didn't expect the Preds to beat Chicago, but they played a good game til the end.  Bad loss to the Panthers, hopefully they get back on track tomorrow.

Staal's shooting percentage this year is the 2nd highest of his career.
not just that, his points/goals are padded by a bunch of empty net points (the whole team really, they lead the league in ENG by a lot).  he's just been pretty solid all around for most of the year.  I'm stunned.

He is probably trying again with the change which he really needed.  Carolina sucking had to drag him now.  Plus I think it did him good to step out of the leadership role.

Wings finally showed up for a game, neat.

Probably will blow it but I can dream.
That was the worst effort I have ever seen live out of a Kings team.  I knew it was going to problematic when Zatkoff started in net and it just carried over to the rest of the team.  The whole arena was dead.

Then they start out two down to the Wild on Saturday and I thought I was going thru deja vu......lucky the Kings turned it around and started playing for the win.

Metro
Columbus 60 pts (18-2-1 last 21)
Pittsburgh 57 pts (13-1-2 last 16)
Washington 57 pts (13-2-3 last 18)
NYR 57 pts (12-5-0 last 17)

@ffldrew What is going on with all of the Landeskog talk? Are you hearing anything out there?
No one is untouchable - talk on radio is all Bronco coaching - my thoughts

They aren't as bad as this record due to Erik Johnson injury - that said they still suck. None of the forwards can find the net, Barrie can't find the net and they really can't score. Iginla is such a liability and he's done - that is why I'd think that Landeskog stays they still need wingers. But Landeskog doesn't even get to net. Beauchamin is trainwreck - just horrible turnover machine. I say trade Duchene try to find a young #2-#3-#4 D man and a draft pick maybe a 2nd-3rd. Tyson Jost comes next year and he'll take that spot. See if someone will take Beauchamin - maybe MTL for a draft pick or a 3rd liner. Then I'd go get Dineen and fire Bednar - he just doesn't have it. Going to be a while until this gets fixed.

Cool thing for the Hawks to do a One Goal commercial for the kid they "signed" as an emergency backup goalie when Crow had an emergency appendectomy.

If another O6 is in the west, I can understand doing it, but putting 5 in the East and a lone rep in the West is just stupid.

But hey! We have the Blue Jackets!

Fun finish to the Couve/Preds game.

Canucks get the goal with about 40 seconds left to tie.  Press have a goal waived off in OT...take a penalty...then get a 2 man breakaway and short handed score with about a second left.

Worst thing to happen in the last decade of the NHL was realigning the Hawks and Wings into different divisions.
Like I was saying a few weeks ago, I've lost some interest in hockey since the Wings no longer play in the Western Conference.  It's not because they aren't very good either, I still watch most of their games.  I just never really watched the Eastern Conference that much when Wings were out west, so it's hard to get into it.  I am going to the Caps/B'Hawks on Friday, but I don't watch the Caps much either.

meh. sometimes tradition needs to trump logic. See: Dallas Cowboys in NFC East

I agree it would have been nice to keep Detroit and Chicago together, but it was Detroit that pushed hard for the change. Even fans in the FFA used to complain about how late the games were on when they played all the teams out West, or all the extra travel they had.

They should probably add some flexibility to the schedule which would allow rivalries like that to get more than 2 games/year.

Flyers fans

Just bought tickets for the April 8th game vs Blue Jackets.

The tickets say that it includes access to the Capital Grille. This place any good. Did a quick search and looks like you need a membership. Why would some shlub in the boonies( I bought the cheap seats) have some exclusive place to eat.

Anyway, its an afternoon game so not even sure we will want to go.

Sportstalk radio Caps guys were complaining how it was "unfair" the Caps had to play the Pens in the semis last year, because the Atlantic Division is "so bad."  Remember when all the teams in the Atlantic were winning Stanley Cups and you weren't?  I rest my case.  :bye:

NHL Twitter is so good at interacting with (trolling) other teams ...

@LAKings

Los Angeles now leads St. Louis 2-0. ...both in this game and in professional football teams.

Not sure of your stadium eating preference, but if you're in the mood for a $25 cheeseburger then have at it. Never eaten there but it's a hipper Ruth Chris? The best thing is probably the parking if that came with it.
