***Official '16-'17 NHL Season Discussion Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I never thought anyone would challenge what Buffalo put together a few years ago, yet here the Avs are doing it.  and they raised the bar by doing it without intentionally tanking .  impressive stuff, Rado.

NHL GM meeting this week. They are going to talk about getting rid of the foot in the air offsides.
So the new rule would be like the NFL crossing the plane rule.  Which would eliminate 99% of the replays.  Once you touch the blue line, you are in.

Just touching the blue line makes you in? That would be terrible IMO.
That's one of the inconsistencies of the rule book that I've been ranting about for the last couple of years.

Coming out of the zone, all you have to do is touch the blue line to be "out". Yet the puck still is "in" unless it goes completely across.

Going into the zone ... puck/skate on blue line = out.

Coming out of the zone ... puck on blue line = in; skate on blue line = out.

Doesn't make sense.

@AcerFC how badly did Dolan #### you on your ticket price bump for next year? Friend of mine in the high upper corner went from $62/game last year to $74 this year to $89 next season.

Exact same. The reasoning given at a subscriber event my BIL went to was that people were getting a lot more on the secondary market. So now they will charge what the research dictates they can get. It sucks. My BIL is at the point where he will take 5 games and sell the rest to a broker and split the profit. I need to talk to my wife, his sister and see what she wants to do. The tickets were originally their dads but he passed so now we split them.

Yeah that's what I figured. Wouldn't blame anyone for giving them up at those prices. It's one thing for hundreds of tickets to move at those secondary market prices. Trying to do that with many thousands is nuts. Not to mention there were plenty of pre-New Year's games where you could find upper bowl seats below STH prices.

they should just give this to Staal as like a participation award or something.  he must have the worst in-game breakaway scoring percentage in league history

The Caps have not been the same team since their bye week. Really hoping that after this West Coast swing they start putting it back together.

Trivia Quiz: Do you know what hasn't happened in the last 16 Caps games? An even-strength goal by Ovechkin.

The Wild have scored five goals in the past four games.  :X
don't be such a homer.  it's really only three goals when you take out the empty netter and center ice dump in with 10 seconds left on Allen.  though that was probably Elliott's fault.
