Did I see correctly that the Leafs "forgot" to player in the box when Polak got a major/game misconduct and then had to play an extra two minutes with four guys on the ice? Wow.

Ho-Sang is really looking pretty good for the Isles, glad to see he might have gotten his act together because the kid has some real talent.

This was unreal, can't believe Babcock let it happened but he took full ownership afterwards. It resulted in a 6:53 powerplay for Columbus.

Also, Roman Polak who took the major should be thrown out of the league. Not because the hit was that bad but because literally anyone the Leafs put in his place will be more effective.

Alsoalso, I think the Leafs are going to the playoffs :oldunsure:

Really skilled player, I think that comes through in the long run. He's a more dynamic player than fellow Islander prospect Dal Colle but he's never seemed to have his head 100% in it (including OHL level), I think he figures it out and will be a very good NHLer for a long time.

Nylander is 2 points behind Marner, 4 behind Matthews. He's being overshadowed but what a rookie year. I guess Leafs fans are getting over not drafting Nick Ritchie...

reminds me of when Torch replaced Yeo last year and everyone said omg he really opened it up look at them go!!!11! even though they were playing the same effing game
Torch did a good job changing some things up. To say it was the same game is silly. The Wild would not have made the playoffs if Yeo had stayed.

I like Yeo, but he got too stuck in his ways. Same guys on the PP through the whole season. Pominville couldn't score last year yet still always on the PP tells it all.

He didn't forget, he just didn't send a player right away and would have during the next stoppage. Why is that even allowed? Sounded like coaches do that for some reason. Don't know why they would even take a chance on that happening, but he probably won't do it again.

Wait. What happened?

I guess the theory is, why waste having one of your bench guys in the box if you don't have to, especially since you're already down one guy because of the game misconduct. Like you said, it's a major roll of the dice, which is probably why most coaches never do it even though it is allowed by the rules.

I'm sure the only reason Babcock even considered it was because it was a major. I haven't seen the replay, but how many stoppages did they have in the nearly seven minutes that they were shorthanded?

One other thing: Once the penalty is up, you're not allowed to freely ice the puck even though you're still technically shorthanded. I have to wonder if they had an opportunity to ice it just to get a whistle and get the fifth guy back out there.

No stoppages for the whole time, almost 7 minutes.  He never had an opportunity to put a player in the box after he didn't when the penalty was assessed.

They did try and ice the puck multiple times but the goalie kept leaving the crease to play the puck so play would continue (smart move).

Pretty good write up on the situation:

That's awesome. So it seems both sides were well aware of the rule, but Babs just gambled that he would get a stoppage at some point.

I've been trying to log in to my NHL.com account (my password is not working, for some reason) to rewatch it; didn't realize it was just replayed on NHL Network.

Boyle said he waved at his former coach, John Tortorella. "I was getting the puck, getting it over the blue line and gave it away to Torts," said Boyle.

  Good #### all around.

Bob was outstanding tonight for Lumbus but an Orlov bomb tied it up to force OT where Oshie( )made it look simple in the skills competition and Holtby made it stand up.Sucks it was a 3 point game but at least they came away with 2 of them.

Pens lose in shootout to Ottawa. Metro standings with 9 games left: Caps 104, Pens 102, CBus 101.

Caps could get some breathing room w 2 vs. AZ and 1 vs. COL coming up

Am I too late to pile on Crosby?  Such a little #####.  Whether it's through the NHL or a bullseye on his ear, the dude needs to sit.

Air Force clearly not overwhelmed by the fact they're playing in an actual arena in New England, unlike when they trek here to face Bentley or AIC.
