Nice start to the season for the Jays. Going to need BIG things this year out of the young bats of Lind and Snider. Hopefully the Rios and Wells rebound from off years. Start rotation is, to put it nicely, horrid. Marcum and McGowan most likely both done for the season. The bullpen is still going to be near the top of the league. BJ Ryan will be removed from the closer within a month or so if he doesn't get some zip back on his fastball (topping out at 88 in spring).

I have faith that Cito can get us 4th place in the divison.

Nice of the fans to get into the game last night. Throwing #### on the field is classy, nice job Toronto. Your hockey team still blows! :goodposting:

sounds like someone is upset that their team got smacked. :shrug:Also, don't assume that because someone is a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays that they are also a fan of the Maple Leafs.

Ah crap. When did I become a Leaves fan? Jays :thumbup:Raptors :thumbup:Leafs :own3d:  :thumbdown:Yes, it was extremely pathetic of fans to do that crap. Maybe if the Tigers could have kept up the fans wouldn't have had to try and entertain themselves.

I agree with all of this. Game 2 in an hour but I'm gonna miss the first few innings. MLB extra innings pack for a week is great!

MLB.com? I hope so... for some reason no channel in Canada picked up the game. Damn hockey...

despite BJ Ryan's best efforts to lose us the game, the Blue Jays win it in the bottom of the 9th :2cents:

It's nice to see the Jays win games in the 8th and 9th inning. That sort of thing never happened with Gibbons.

ETA: Game wasn't on TV so i didn't watch it, but Purcey's stat line was impressive. Nice to see.

How many blown saves do you think Ryan gets until you think Downs is the closer?I'd love to see League get a shot at it. The guy has sick stuff.

Too long. The Jays have a lot of good relievers, they could really give anyone a shot. Downs would be great, but i think hes more valuable as a long reliever. Once we get Casey Janssen back that is gonna be a nice boost. He could potentially be a long reliever freeing up Downs for closing. Although as you said Brandon League would seem to be ideal. He had a great year last season, and he definitely has closer stuff.

Very nice stat line by Ricky Romero after a nice spring training.

3-1 And tops in the AL East

I never thought the Jays had a chance in hell of having the best record in the AL this late into the season.

I'm scared

;)So far so good. The rookie pitching has looked a little shaky but they're getting the job done. Lind has been a beast so far. #1 in the league in RBI! And thankfully we haven't had to see much of Ryan so far.

It was nice of League on Friday to walk the bases loaded and HBP in the tying run.

Travis Hafner looks like half the man he was two seasons ago. No 'roids, and it's Pudge all over again.

Scott Baker got lit up last night. When you give up an opposite field HR to Michael Barrett in the Metrodome, you know you're having a rough night.

This is just getting ridiculous. 7 runs per game!?! Scutaro with 3 dingers already!?! Gawd I love Cito.

And thankfully we've only had to see Ryan pitch 3 times.

FYI - for those with daily transactions, Adam Lind will not be in the starting lineup today. Snider is in LF with Millar DH'ing.

5 straight series wins to start the season... at what point am I supposed to start believing in this team? 'Cause it's starting to feel like the real deal.

The hitting is for real, the starting pitching will flatten out soon with injuries mounting. They might get Casey J. back in May or so and that might help. Not sure when Litsch is back. Bullpen will be solid, but outside of Doc this team's team's starting pitching won't hold up all season long imho.

Aaron Hill is just crushing the ball. I drafted him very late in a deep Mixed league figuring last year was lost due to a fluke injury and he is young and shown he could hit before the injury but this is crazy.

Pretty sweet how it worked out that Halladay got to pitch the same game that Burnett returned to Toronto since it guaranteed that Burnett would lose :headbang:

Color me shocked to see no reaction from Burnett after the boo birds hit him hard when he was pulled in the 7th inning.

We were really hoping Burnett would get pulled in the middle of an inning and not between innings, so we'd have one more chance to get on him. The Yankees gave him the chance to battle out of the 8th, even after the Hill homerun followed by 6 straight balls and it looked like he might get out of it but Rolen owned him all night long.

Great game, good to see the Toronto fans so into it, even if it was only for one night. There's no reason this Jays team shouldn't get 30, 000 fans a night, hopefully the bandwagon starts filling up quickly after last night's win.

P.S. I've seen a lot of people say the Jays early start has a lot to do with the competition and the teams they've faced - not having played the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays, etc... but these are exactly the games that the Jays lose ever year. They've played .500 ball against the Yankees and Red Sox over the past few seasons but couldn't take the gimme games. Doing so this year, and playing around .500 against the AL East may be enough to get them to the playoffs, whether it be wild card (most likely, I think) or winning the division.
