I'm going to assume we can't land Gross; he's too young and too valuable to bet on leaving Carolina, and if he did, we would only be one of a bunch of teams that would have interest.With that in mind, this is what I hope to see happen:Re-sign Tra to a 2-year deal [3 if he demands it]Prepare Andrews to move to RT from jump streetConsider re-signing Runyan to an incentive deal AFTER you are comfortable with progress from his surgeryI've seen a few folks mention OG if we move Andrews outside, I don't see that as a need. Herremans, Gilles and McGlynn should more than hold their own.At WR, obviously getting Boldin would be key. I don't want them to sign Housh [nor do i think they will], but Boldin is another matter entirely. We really need to bolster the RB situation and Michael Bush isn't the answer IMHO. Not saying he can't come in and help, but I would love for them to really focus on the position in the draft.

I like it, RB wise Beanie Wells or even P.J. Hill would help for short yardage grind and help perserve Westbrook, but Moreno or McCoy could be the guy to replace Westbrook.Even with the trade they can still address the OT need and even TE or RB through the draft. They can still get either Pettigrew or Britton with there 1st pick. I'd say pick up Britton (or mcCoy if he is available) and then may be Jared Cook for TE in the 2nd if need be, how ever it pans out I guess. I'd be in favor of doing the Boldin deal. He would turn the offense in to something similar to what TO did for them back in '04.

Jacobs would be nice but I think he'd cost too much, Ward may be cheaper but i'd rather try a drafted back first, I think there is a lot of talent in this years RB crop.

Keep hearing rumors that the Eagles are going to try and package their two first rounders to move up and try to draft Jason Smith from Baylor. I really like him and think he make an impact on the OL immediately but we need to fill more holes and those two first rounders will probably better spent doing that.

The Eagles Friday night announced they have agreed to terms with CB Joselio Hanson on a five-year contract. Hanson was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on February 27.

"We are happy to keep Joselio in Philadelphia with a long-term contract," said head coach Andy Reid. "He's become a productive and valuable player on defense for us over the last few years, especially in nickel situations. Good cornerbacks are certainly a valuable commodity in this league and Joselio definitely fits that category."

The 27-year-old Hanson played in all 48 regular season games (eight starts) and all five postseason contests for the Eagles since signing with the club as free agent prior to the 2006 campaign. He originally joined the NFL as a rookie free agent with San Francisco in 2003 and, after spending his rookie season on the 49ers practice squad, played in 13 games (three starts) for the Niners in 2004.

In 2008, Hanson recorded his first career interception (vs. the Cardinals' Kurt Warner on Thanksgiving night) and his first career touchdown (a 96-yard fumble return for a score in the Eagles playoff-clinching victory over the Cowboys). He also recorded one sack among his 32 tackles.

A native of Inglewood, CA, Hanson was a two-year star at Texas Tech after transferring from El Camino Junior College. Hanson remains inspired by his father, John, who battled multiple sclerosis until he passed away from complications from the disease in 2000, saying "he always kept a positive outlook on life. He kept his faith and was always happy. I'll keep that with me wherever I go." His mother, Yolanda, is a native of Panama.

I care more about finding legitimate starters at FB, TE, RB and WR than I do about the 4th and 5th Cb on the roster. And if they are so enamoured with all of these CB's, why in the championship game didn't they have a couple of them on Fitz? It is similar to the problem with drafting Kevin Kolb. They have McNabb. They trade out of the first round and draft a back up QB in the second round. Do they need to draft a back up before they address the holes in the starting lineup? And while I am at it I will never be able to understand how you can be a passing offense with below average receivers and tight ends. It just does not make sense.

After watching Westbrook the last 2 months of the season, I am in a semi-panic over RB. Yes they need a OT and S, but if 36 can't regain his old form, we need an upgrade before 2009 kicks off. There don't seem to be any sure fire stud prospects in the draft, which helps us because at least a quality RB or 2 will slide to the end of the 1st round. We at least need a young compliment to Westy (sorry Buck), and possibly a replacement...

Sure, but it's all part of building a contender. Joselio has started for the team when injuries demanded it, and he played quite well. He's proven that, at a minimum, he can be among the better nickel backs in the NFC. Would you rather they not re-signed him? It's not as though his contract precludes them from addressing any of the team's other needs.And if we're analyzing the Birds need, you frankly omitted their biggest one...OT. Tra and Runyan are both FAs, Runyan went under the knife and Tra is on the wrong side of 30. At the very least, they need to re-sign one of them, hope Shawn Andrews can get his mind right, and also target at least one potential starter at the position in the draft.

Meh...I think we as fans romanticize veterans too much. Marvin will be 37 before the season starts, and is coming off a 60-catch, 636 yard season. Hardly a guy we want to bring in an upset the chemistry as he would presumably want to be the #1 guy.

My disgust may have clouded my intention, I am happy they signed Hanson and obviously they have huge questions at tackle. I would be shocked if they did not do a great job in filling the holes at tackle. As much as I dislike Reid as an OC, and at times head coach, he has always put together a really good line. Why he thinks big fat guys don't like to run block is amazing to me. My problem is their neglect of the other positions in recent years. It has been blatant disregard in dealing with FB and terrible overvaluation of LJ Smith. And I will never understand Reid's disdain for running the ball and his love with mediocre receivers.

Meh...I think we as fans romanticize veterans too much. Marvin will be 37 before the season starts, and is coming off a 60-catch, 636 yard season. Hardly a guy we want to bring in an upset the chemistry as he would presumably want to be the #1 guy.

I don't think he would upset the chemistry since we don't have an obvious #1/ safety blanket for McNabb. His 60 catch 636 yard season isn't that bad since he played hurt all year (or at least looked to be still recovering from the knee surgery). I'd don't know if I even want him as the #1 guy but I know on 3rd and 6 they would at least have a guy who could get open and convert the 1st down. We don't have that guy now.Could be E. Moulds after he left Buffalo or he could be I. Fryer who "was done" when he left Miami.On the plus side-> He's better than Greg Lewis

Could be the possession guy to catch all the bad balls from McNabb for a year or two and would appease the fans by finally giving us a big name WR and in typical Philly style it would be one who is pretty much done.I wouldn't see it as a horrible with Marin, Curtis and Jackson starting. WOW! And the hardest part of this would be getting the Front Office to think this way.... It's not out of the question that some of these to actually occur! Nothing, but after hearing an interview from Tra, I fear he's going to be gone. I thought their key to success was getting him signed for a few more years. Would be hard for them to find an LT where they are drafting, so they'd trade up. As a result, that first round TE or RB (or extra pick to help you get Q) we all wanted goes out the window.I feel like they have a lot of holes, and while they have a lot of $$, I don't see that many players that would be a really good fit for this team.

I've heard Stacey Andrews mentioned as a good fit but believe he is a RT. Believe we have a ridiculous $48M under the cap, hope we do something.

What do you guys think about Jahri Evans? He is a Philly kid, only 25. Has been part of a great passing OL in NO. He is a RFA but Eagles have a lot more flexibility than the Saints, who have to resign Vilma, Lance Moore, and others. He was a Tackle in college (Div II).

Use the cap space to get Jason Brown and Stacy Andrews. Brown starts at OG, Andrews at RT. Herremans to LT which seems to be likely with the lack of resigning Tra. OL shapes up as:

RT: Stacy Andrews

The acquisition of Stacy Andrews lights a fire under Shawn Andrews, clearly a good thing. Brown starts at OG this year with a potential move to OC next year if Jackson continues to underachieve this year. Draft Britton or Robinson with one of the #1's which provides depth and talent to the mix. Rather simple(and yes expensive) solution to the OL issues.

Tra and Dawk now FA's. Very surprising. I thought they would've had a deal done with at least Dawkins. I really could see only one possibly re-signing and that's Dawk. Some one will throw a pile of money at Tra and the Eagles aren't going to overpay for a 34 year old OT. Ugh, with the Haynesworth signing this is bad news. If I am Donovan McNabb i'm probably asking for a trade.

A league source tells PFT that tackle Stacy Andrews has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Per the source, it's a multi-year deal averaging $7 million per season.

At this point, the structure of the contract isn't known as it relates to guaranteed money. Andrews suffered a torn ACL late in the 2008 season, and it might have prompted the Eagles to defer any large payments until March 2010, after Andrews proves that he is 100 percent.

The deal hinges on Andrews passing a physical.

For the Eagles, it was important to address quickly the tackle position, since both starters from last season, Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan, are unrestricted free agents.

Huge IF right here. The Eagles are taking a huge chance that he'll be right by season opener. I suspect that this is a ploy to motivate Shawn Andrews as well.....
