The Rangers will rebound tonight. They may or may not win, but I am not buying the thinking that some have that last night buried the Rangers. You don't get to Game 7 of the World Series by giving up when the going gets tough.

Also, it was nice to see how happy and relaxed the Cardinals still looked last night, even when things looked bleakest. In both the bottom of the 9th and 10th innings, when they were on the verge of losing, they showed the part of the dugout where Carpenter and some others were, and every time they were smiling and talking. That was great to see. Instead of looking all glum and sad like all hope was lost, they were still upbeat and relaxed and knowing that it's not over till it's over.

Game 7 tonight could very well be anti-climatic after last night, but I don't think it will be.

The rotation for the WS has been set forever. It is 2 games one park, 3 games the other park and then 2 games back in the first park.And then was it 8 years ago Bud Selig decided that whatever league won the All Star game would get the extra game.Before that, it alternated who had the extra game

I tell ya what, after seeing the replay now numerous times, how did Cruz not catch Freese's hit in the 9th? He catches that, it's over. And he should have. Like John Kruk said, if he had to put a hole in the outfield wall, you make the catch and do it, but how do you slow up like that? Not quite Buckner-esque, but still pretty bad.

Yeah, I thought that was it. I guess maybe the groin injury was slowing him down, because that looked pretty bad. Flashbacks to Vlad trying to play RF in San Francisco last year. Cruz also probably should have been playing a little deeper. Can't let anything get over your head there. It was very well hit though.

Did you think they overcompensated next inning when Berkman's single tied it? I think with 2 outs he scores anyway but that was strange to me playing THAT deep with 2 outs. There was no chance on even a stumble to throw him out.

I hate the way home field advantage is decided, but the Cardinals didn't have home field in 1985, 1987 and 2004, despite having the better record than their opponent in all three of those years (and lost two of them in a Game 7 on the road), so it is kind of nice to be on the other side of it for a change. And of course, having a Game 7 at home is always awesome.

Cruz looks a little awkward out there at times, but he has made some nice catches. His arm is scary-good.Unless they already knew Cruz was slowed by the groin, I can't see them replacing any of the OFs with Chavez. Murphy-Hamilton-Cruz is normally pretty solid.

You're really still on this? You know having fewer teams in the division means they have fewer division games, right? Both divisions have two good teams. Why does having more bad teams somehow make the NL Central more difficult? In 57 division games, the Rangers had a .702 winning percentage against division opponents. Those opponents combined for a .467 winning percentage.In 79 division games, the Cardinals had a .557 winning percentage against division opponents. Those opponents combined for a .409 winning percentage.

Not nearly as lame as you crying about W-L record for two completely different leagues. Be mad about the ASG if you want, but W-L record still wasn't the home-field decision point before that. You know that.

Also, for what it's worth, the argument over home field advantage is a whole pile of nothing. Home field advantage in baseball is the slightest of all the major sports- in the modern era the home team wins only about 54% of games, and variance is mostly the result of park quirks, i.e. teams tailoring their personnel to the particulars of their field, and defenses having a greater familiarity with those quirks. Crowds have zero impact on the game. Here's one study. Here's more commentary, including finding that there's no difference between regular season and postseason HFA, which obviously wouldn't be the case if crowds affected the games.

And then of course there's the fact that Busch is as neutral as they come, since the field is symmetrical. Sure it's among the more pitcher-friendly parks, but that's really not a big advantage for one side or the other. And of course there's the fact that the Cards had identical home-road records this season.

I feel the pain of Rangers fans this morning, and part of me is rooting for their team tonight just because last night must have been so agonizing. But taking it out on the silly WS home field rule is the wrong target.

I think home field definitely had an effect on last's night game - Cruz looked lost on that play - from the angle of the Freese liner he may have lost it a bit in the crowd and then as he got back to the track he was feeling around for the wall or at least hesitant because he was lost. At home he may have made that catch.

Holliday's decision to choose baseball over football is looking smarter every day. To his credit, he did look like a football player when breaking up that double play in the 4th. That was serious. For Ranger fans watching (and drinking) there was a glimmer of hope he could be called for interference, considering his feet were pretty far from the base and he never touched it.

Not a call you can count on getting though. That's the way baseball go. Holliday did what he needed to do and it lead to a run. Good strong play by him.
