***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Ryan Miller might start for Team USA again the way this year is going.
I wasn't sure if your earlier post about him was sarcasm or not but he's been either option #1 or 2(with Quick) since before the season started. With the injury to Quick he's the overwhelming favorite to start for USA and deservedly so.

If Quick is healthy it should be Miller, Quick, and Bishop in that order.

I think Quick, Anderson and Schneider were clearly ahead of him when the season started and didn't expect him to gain with the crappy and young team playing in front of him. But he's locked in and everyone else has slipped except for Bishop who bombed in the Worlds last year.

Utter collapse by the Wild tonight. Up three nothing early in the second period only to give up four goals, tie it up, and then give up the lead about a minute later

if the Wild lose tonight against a struggling Isles team with cross country travel on a 2nd of a back to back likely without Tavares (and Bailey & Grabner already out)...they might need to think about doing something drastic like canning Yeo or this season might be dead.
with the way they blew that game last night, I'm now expecting Yeo's head. team is a mess and now Parise is on the shelf for a while. Yeo is done after this season anyway if they take a step back so I could see it happening now. of course this goes against Fletcher's typical patience.

not sure how team doctors let Parise play on the broken foot, assuming it dates back to that shot block. poor decision.

Finland wins 4-1 over the Russians.

Going to be interesting to see what the Russians can do with Sweden tomorrow given today's performance.

Wings need to get Jimmy Howard out of the game. Not because he isn't playing well, but because he looks completely gassed. First game back in a month, let in an easy one early but has looked fine since considering the Wings are playing zero D tonight.

Also the Wings color commentator Larry Murphy said, "from Hockeytown to Honkeytown here in Nashville." Pretty sure he meant Honkey-tonk town, but he's probably right either way.

Chris Osgood's lazy eye freaks me out too,

Very excited that my Brother's Brother-in-Law got called up to the Rangers and played in his first game yesterday. Let's Go Rangers!

Conor Allen? I saw him play a lot in college ... very happy for him.
Yeah, he's a great kid. Really nice. His older sister married my brother. Hope he stays in the show. It's funny, we were all up in DC for the holidays where my brother and my parents live. The Rangers were at the Caps on the 27th so we were trying to get tickets to the game. Then he doesn't get called up so we miss him for Xmas because he's in Hartford. We managed to get 10 ice level seats but gave them up when he wasn't called up. Then we leave town Saturday and he's called up for the Sunday game in Tampa. Gotta love it.

Blues win 6-5 after shootout and after being down 2-0, 3-1, and 5-3 to the Blackhawks.

Win of the season by far. No Steen, no Sobotka (flu), Roy and unnamed others slowed by flu, and Halak with his head up his butt in the 1st period. Gritty win if there ever was one.
no comment on the Seabrook goal? :) Hawks D should be embarrassed about letting Berglund walk in like that.

Great win for the Blues. Coming back from 2 three times against the best team in the league ain't easy.
Hawks D played really poorly last night and Raanta for as good as he's been during regular play is terrible in shootouts.
Tightened it up tonight.

Sweden tops Russia and looks very strong in this tourney.

About an hour away from the US vs Canada tilt, should be another great game with the top spot in the group on the line.

Another great period from both teams - Canada got some real jump after their goal but USA seems to have weathered the storm so far - PP for USA to start 3rd and they have looked good with a man advantage

All kinds of good news for Blackhawks netminders, Crawford says he's ready to return and Raanta gets his first shutout.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Bulin ever gets back. I am assuming LaBarbera will be sent down once Crawford joins the team.

Sweden can't get some better looking chicks for the end of games or did they give the C squad to USA vs CAN and save the best for themselves?
