***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I can only imagine who the Wild would put out there for alumni if the ever got one of these. good thing it won't be for 10 years, maybe Parise will be retired by then.

Yeah they were talking about the Capitals alumni next year possibly playing a group of retired all-stars including Mario and The Great One. Rod Langway is going to have to double shift and they're gonna have to get Yvon Labre off the Wild Turkey.

My guesses for Team USA:

Forwards

Parise-Kesler-Kane

van Riemsdyk-Stastny-Kessel

Saad-Pavelski-Ryan

Brown-Backes-Callahan

Pacioretty, Oshie

Defense

Suter-McDonough

Carlson-Shattenkirk

Yandle-E. Johnson

Martin-J. Johnson

Goalies

Miller

Quick

Howard

Saad over Pominville or Okposo seems like a reach. I'd like to even see Galchenyuk maybe.

Okposo has 37 points in 40 games with 6g, 11p in his last 10 before tonight. He deserves to make it.

I think Pominville would be great on the bigger ice and he's versatile enough to play a lot of different roles.

Saad seems like he would sit a lot.

Is Callahan going to be healthy in time?

Oshie is as complete a player as there is IMO. And now he's not a knucklehead. I think he takes meaningful minuets on this team, as he should.

Call me crazy, but I think Callahan is borderline even if he is healthy. Injury leaves him off completely over I make the team. Nice player, but I think there are better options. He'll make it though

I take a healthy Callahan over a lot of guys who might be better. He plays harder than anyone and I think that rubs off on other players. Good leader and penalty killer.

Regarding Saad, I guess maybe I tend to think they will take a player who they are eyeing for four years down the road, just to give him a taste of it now. On second thought, I could flip him with Oshie and be perfectly fine with that. It wouldn't surprise me to see him left off completely.

Okposo definitely was a tough omission for me. I've wanted to see him explode ever since he entered the league, but he's never really fulfilled that promise. He's certainly having a career year, but will that be enough? I can easily see him making it, especially if Callahan can't go. But my guess is they do whatever they can to have Callahan on the roster.

I don't know if Oshie is the most complete player there is but you're not far off. And yes, although it seemed like he was hungover during most games last year he seems to have settled down. His lack of goal scoring this year has been more a product of his line mates just being the better scorers than his inability to put it in. Not a coincidence that he's gone on a little scoring streak since his two line mates hit the press box.

It would be nice if he learned to stay on his feet better. God does he fall down a lot.

All kinds of good news for Blackhawks netminders, Crawford says he's ready to return and Raanta gets his first shutout.
It will be interesting to see what happens if Bulin ever gets back. I am assuming LaBarbera will be sent down once Crawford joins the team.
No way you can send down Raanta at this point. Nikolai Huet..

Oshie is a player. Can't believe more people don't think he'll have a significant role.
Swap Saad with Oshie and it's better.
Saad shouldn't be on the roster.
Oh I agree, but Oshie on a Team USA third line with Pavelski and Ryan makes sense.
I can't say that Saad should definitely be on the roster but he has 14 G and 16A playing a good portion of that time on the third line (at least of late) so I don't think it's as bold as it seems. Oshie is a pretty good player but so is Saad. Hard to argue against Okposo, Callahan, or Pominville too.

Plus I think the Blues are a bunch of tools so there's that.... :boxing:

About 70% of his EV ice spent with at least one of Kane, Towes, Hossa, or Sharp this year with Kane, arguably the best distributor in the game, out there for the majority of his shifts. About 80% of his points have come with one of those 4 on the ice as well. It's the Hawks, there is no 3rd line.Maybe he gets brought along as a token young guy to gain the experience, but it's highly doubtful he has any real role on this team IMO.

This isn't it say that he's a bad player, just that they have many better and more experienced options. Great field, Americans have alot to choose from!

This snow is pretty bad for allowing a good game to take place - especially one this important in the standings - I hope a fluke play isn't what decides this.

I went back and looked at the scores of these games expecting most of them to being highish because of backdrop issues for the goalies, but all but one have been five or under. Seems like getting a good clean shot off today might be tough.

YepI loaded up on all Unders today

There is no way another Winter Classic can replicate this atmosphere. 110k fans, snow, wind and awesome.
Wait until you see the game in LA.
I'd love to see one of these at Mile High.
Hard to say how it would go - yesterday it was near 60 - this morning it was snowing - followed by some sun - looks like it might snow soon however.

The dry humidity would help the ice conditions though - I hope we get one soon - I think if they make playoffs and with Patrick behind the bench it might help on the name recognition - plus the youth stars.

I'd love to see a Blues/Avs Winter Classic with the way that rivalry is building up.
