***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Who would have thought, all the Rangers needed to do was shoot on the PP. they have played well tonight. Might not see points but it looked bad in Cali

Wild very strong play continues, this time with results. Fontaine and Dumba with 1st career NHL goals, Nino's 1st with Wild.

That's more like it.

Ryan Miller playing like a Vezina candidate with a crap team in front of him. If a team needs a goalie, they should really go after him.

Avs are a fun team to watch and sadly the Caps did that very well last night.

Varly was outstanding,Neuvy was terrible.

If the Avs can put together a solid D this group of talent will carry them far.Highly impressed with the talent and skill level of this team.

First the coach, next to go is the players. A couple more losses and Homer is going to do something stupid. And I've got a bad feeling about it.

Looks like the Penguins get a walk over into the playoffs....not a good start for the Metropolitan Division. That will be a tough banner to explain in 20 years - Dad what was the Metropolitan Division?

I'm hearing rumors that Philly and Edmonton are seriously talking trade. Players rumored to be on the way out of Edmonton are Hemsky and Yakupov.

Heard similar today, but it was the Leafs and Edm, and the players were Gardiner, Reimer, Dubnyk, Yakupov

After they get smoked by Pittsburgh, I fully expect major roster changes. They don't play again for an entire week, plenty of time for Homer to drop a few bombs.

I've heard the Edmonton rumors as well but I'm getting them from an sketchy twitter account. Where are you hearing yours?

after a pretty lackluster, grind out game against a trapping Buffalo, Wild go in to Toronto and absolutely manhandle them...and lose 4-1 with an empty net. they almost had as many pipes and breakaways as Toronto did shots. really, really need to start finishing.

Homer already dropped the "bomb" of Pronger never playing again. Way to run the risk of the league taking away the LTIR option and force them to list him as retired.

That's how every Leafs game has gone this season, they haven't outplayed a team yet.

to that extent? I've seen parts of a few Leafs games but it wasn't anything like that. they were on their heels virtually the entire game other than a small stretch in the 3rd period.

I don't think Reimer gets moved for a while.

Sounds like Darcy could be on the hot seat and the Sabres might raid the Penguins for their new GM.
Jason Botterill?
that's the rumor, but I'd prefer they bring back Rick Dudley if they let Darcy go.

No clue if Botterill is ready to handle the Miller and/or Vanek trade and/or contract negotiations and those will be huge for the future of the franchise.

the SOG differential early was insane.

I remember checking to see something like 18 shots for the Wild and 3 shots for the Leafs (with 2 goals).

Yep, the Leafs have been outshot badly and lead the league in giveaways. They played about 10 minutes vs. Edmonton, but Dubnyk sucks. Nashville dominated the play and outshot them 36-26, Leafs won 4-0. The Sens had them down and out, but Bernier came in and they managed to get a couple goals and win in the shootout.

It's all they've talked about on the radio, consensus is they're winning on great goaltending, 30% powerplay and lots of "game breaker" type players, Hopefully it's better once Clarkson/Kulemin/JVR let them ice a better lineup.

huh. knew the play had been generally slanted, but not to that extent. have to like the points so far but can't imagine feeling too confident with play like that. have to feel pretty good about the goaltending continuing with Bernier there too though. pretty solid combo.

that first PP goal last night was a beauty. Franson with a brilliant fake shot pass to Bolland to start the whole sequence.

What's the over/under on how many games Darren Helm plays before getting hurt again? I say 6.

Looks like one of Sammy or Tootoo have played their last game in the winged wheel. I think Tootoo is is the guy to keep around, Sammy looks like he's done.

Yep, last night was the most lopsided, but I'd guess they've been outshot by 10+ in more than half their games so far. Their play is more deserving of a 1-6 team than a 6-1 team.

I could see it. A talent like Yak and a proven backup goalie.

Local radio station has Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger and Glenn Healey on as Hockey Insiders on different days of the week. I didn't hear McKenzie actually say it, but the local hosts may have asked him to speculate about a potential trade partner for Edmonton. Subsequently the local hosts have said their Hockey Insiders are saying their is a huge buzz about a Edm/ Philly trade. Since I didn't hear it, I can't attribute it to one of these guys. Can't find a tweet from either Dreger or McKenzie that speculates about a trade.
