***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Flyers were impressive tonight and have been playing well. Lots of talent on that team and they are getting great goaltending most nights. Won't be an easy out for anyone.
All true. But they struggle mightily against the Rags and Lundqvist and haven't won at MSG in like 3 seasons.

Even though I just had a small fortune on the Sharks, I feel bad for Scrivens. Such a capable goalie, but he has no chance. That defense is disgusting.

And Burrows got a 5 min major for an elbow on McDonagh with under a minute left. McD left with a shoulder injury but late reports are that it wasn't thought to be serious.

Wasn't watching live but watched a bunch of replays earlier. I didn't see an elbow but thought it was more of a very unnecessary hit from behind.

McDonagh had a tough night. He also landed HARD on the back of his head in the 1st. Wouldn't be surprised if had as mildly concussed.

Would love to see them gear back a bit in usage coming down the stretch. Could rotate some dmen like Falk and Moore to get some time.

Rangers been playing great of late. Have not seen them able to roll out 3 solid lines and a decent 4th line in forever. Defense is good and Hank in goal, I'm cautiously optimistic this team could make a nice playoff run this year.

I really like the play of Diaz lately.

wonder why he didnt see regular minutes in :couver:

Went to the game last night in D.C. with some friends and it was without a doubt one of the worst defensive efforts from an entire team I've seen in quite a long time. They actually played a decent 1st period but once they got down 2-0 and then quickly 3-0 the heads dropped on the bench and they just quit.

I lost count at how many odd man rushes they gave up but the Stars were skating circles around them without any pushback at all from anyone.Embarrassing to watch a team just throw in the towel with a playoff spot still within reach(or was).No emotion from Oates either and he basically held nobody accountable(except Halak who did not play bad)during the game and in fact he shortened the bench in hopes the same bums who quit skating would somehow start.

This team needs a major roster makeover and a new GM and coach to take this team over and demand accountability out of these guys.Ovechkin was basically just out for a Sunday skate in the park last night who is a liability when he has to attempt to play defense or backcheck and shows no leadership or heart when the team is floundering.

I would rather watch a team that is lacking talent but has heart and gives effort no matter what over watching a team with talent who doesn't give a #### if they win or not or how they look doing so.Time to clean house and it starts with GMGM who put this ####show together.

Haven't heard whether there was any further damage done to the elbow he received at the end of the game. I agree with you 100% on giving McD some rest. I also think that Biron should be playing at least one more game for the season. Its not like we're giving the game up if we start Biron. You're giving Hank a rest (even though games are down to one every two games) and you're also giving Biron some playing time to keep fresh.

Hopefully the goal by MSL will get him rolling going into the playoffs. Watching him play is a joy. He's one hell of a passer.

well, they probably are giving up if they start Biron since he retired months ago.

Don't know whether to be upset they lost two consecutive skills competitions or be happy they took arguably the best team in the East and arguably the best team in the West to OT in consecutive games.

Well they suck at the fairy dance and I knew Emery had no shot at winning it last night so whatever. I'll take two points against those two teams anytime. But Boston impressed me even more by playing in Toronto the night before a 12:30 start, we played a very good game and could still only get them to OT. We're just not in their class. But they're playing like one of the better teams in the league, especially after this recent stretch of 12 games or so. But that looming first round matchup with the Rags scares the crap out me, they just don't matchup well and can't win in MSG. Would be the worst first round matchup possible for them. We'll see what happens.

Oates calling out Ovechkin for quitting on a play. Umm, he's been doing that for years. Sometimes it costs them, sometimes it doesn't. Should be in his face about it whether it leads to a goal or not.

I read Ovechkin is on his way to being the first player ever to lead the league in goals and be last in +/-. Quite the accomplishment.

If the Wings can get a point tonight, I'll be pretty ####### happy. No Alfie again, Datsyuk not back until Friday.

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Alfredsson, Helm and Franzen have missed a combined 146 games this year. I have no idea how they are 7th in the east, Babcock has done an amazing job with this group.

It helps that most of the East isn't very good. I can see you guys going on a run in the playoffs.

I think the Wings are a sleeper if they can get their big guns healthy for a run, but not without them. Also think they need to avoid Boston in round 1 obviously.

Bruins just got screwed on a disallowed PP goal.

edit: Boychuk scores seconds later anyway.

As an Avs fan I was thinking that Roy had Jack Adams pretty well sewn up....that is until these last 2 weeks where Babcock has conjured up some magic and dialed in the newcomers into a hell of a unit. Quite frankly I'm not sure they need Alfredsson all that much at least on the top lines his tank seems empty. If Babcock were to win the Jack Adams I'd say well deserved.

No Hank

No Datsyuk

No Alfie

NO PROBLEM!!!!

Big win, proof is in the pudding. Jimmy Howard was awesome tonight too, that's very encouraging.

No offense Getz... that was a reverse psychology post. Had $$$$ on your boys.

Nice comeback! :banned:
23rd come from behind win. Glad you won some :moneybag:
Thanks. Do they just coast for the first 30 minutes against these weaker teams, knowing they can turn it on whenever they want to? It seems like they toy with inferior opponents at times.
Fasth and Hall played great games and carried it early.

Perry and Getz wear teams down with their cycling all game. I think that catches up with teams at the end of the game.

The team knows if they play their game, the results will come, so they never panic when down. I never lost faith against the Jets, but I did a little tonight because Fasth was playing first time against old team.

Chara had him squared up at center ice, Nyquist just went right around him.
Boston was keying on him all night, that was only shot of the night. 23 goals since mid-January, most in the league.

Tatar has some mad skills as well. A lot of nice surprises from last years Calder Cup team.
