***Official 2014 World Cup Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I can't get over the fact that the Brazilian goalie plays in MLS. That would be like if one of our Olympic basketball starters played in Greece or something.
he wasn't always there.

he was goalie of the year in Serie A in back to back years (2009, 2010) and his club won the Champions League over Barcelona and Bayern Munich one year.

signed in the Premier League but I think the team got relegated.

If Besler has one more good game, is there a chance a low to mid level EPL team would take a shot with him? I would guess his transfer fee would be in the 4-6 million range.

Gonzo had to open up eyes in Germany. He already went on loan once there (which ended in the first practice with him blowing his knee out). I think he needs another top game against Belgium to get a chance.
I read somewhere that there is interest in Europe in him, dunno who exactly though or if I'm just making it up. But yeah you gotta think his shot is going to come sooner rather than later.
He turned down QPR before he re-signed with KC but I think that would have been a free. KC won't let him go unless they get something decent in a fee.

It's kinda a strange situation. He had lost his starting job at QPR to Robert Green. Brazil basically decided he needed match fitness ASAP because they didn't have any real legit challenger for the starting job and didn't want him to go into the tournament ice cold.

The loan was scheduled for a full year, through December 2014, but the writing was pretty much always on the wall that he wasn't coming back to TFC after the World Cup ends. There was a lot of talk about him moving to various clubs, but it turns out he's going back to QPR.

It was really always in the cards for it to be an ultra short-term loan....he just needed a place to get on the field in a decent league.

That said, he was always a class act. Here he is in his emotional locker room goodbye from a few weeks ago.

This is the worst Brazilian team I've seen since I've been alive. I've always watched them and been impressed with the talent and flair.

I'm thoroughly unimpressed. This team is Neymar (who looks great in spurts) and that's about it.

Can any seasoned Brazil or Chile fans tell me what the level of rivalry is between these two teams?

Are Brazilians going to burn down the stadium if they lose and don't even quality for the QF in their own World Cup?

I think there's a very good chance we're going to find out.

Once Chile cut out the long balls to Neymar they've really had the better of the play. No one in Brazil's midfield has served as the central hub or linked play very well. Who's normally that guy for them?

Paulinho? Which doesn't help that he is on the bench. I think Scolari screwed up there...

Paulinho is the best they have, but he's not really a playmaker.

They don't have that key creative midfield player which is why I think they have looked mediocre for quite some time.

I don't know about these 2 but the Argentines were changing something like "all we ask of God is the death of Chile" during a recent game.

I have to imagine the feelings here are the same.

It seems like Oscar should be a much stronger playmaking presence than he's been.

Had the same idea, but I think they've got Oscar playing out wide.

[Homer]They could use someone like Coutinho.[/Homer]

These same players looked so good in the Confed Cup. Don't know if it's the pressure or what but they look nothing like they did then.
