looks like 4-3-3?
Bedoya as a forward I assume in your formation? But then that puts Bradley at left half I think since it would be suicide to put Beckerman out there.

This is odd to say the least.

Can we do a 4-2-3-1 with this?

........Beckerman........Jones

Dempsey............Bradley.............Bedoya

..................Jozy
yeah, I suppose - Ives was speculating some kind of 4-4-2

But, as Klinsmann said, formations don't matter :)

Is every other team experimenting as much as we are?

It is like it is against every thing JK believes in to put out the same lineup twice in a row.

What I think or what I would play? Here is my best guess.

Iker

Azpilicueta Ramos Pique Alba

Busquets Xabi Alonso

Xavi

Silva Iniesta

Costa

Xavi's role is largely free. Wouldn't shock me to see Pedro take Silva's spot too. Cesc could end up in either Xabi Alonso's or Costa's role.
I was thinking about this formation today...only it was

Fab Cameron Besler DMB

Jones Beckerman

Zusi Bradley Dempsey

Jozy

That would be a very tough team to beat

I don't know about formations, but I am seeing a lot of varying starters across all these friendlies.

I think US press and fans are making a bigger deal only because we usually have a settled XI, but I think we have more options this year, so this experimentation does not bother me at all.

I dunno why you guys are so pessimistic. We're gonna win this mutha####a.

Nice call on the dual holding mids Gator -- this lineup looks much more comfortable as a unit that the others we've run out there.

Super goal too.

This game?

The defensive lineup makes sense given our group-mates + ability to counter, I'm just shuked as to why we're getting around to this now/wasting time playing teams like Azerbaijan/using the now-scrapped (?) diamond formation/training in pleasant climates.

Goooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

It means nothing as far as the result goes, but obviously a lot to like out there today.

Omar... oof. What I notice more than anything else with Besler and Cameron is that they're reading the play right and get to the spot. Neither guy is a physically dominant player, but they're both good at the right place, right time thing. Gonzalez... not so much.

It really is hard to believe that Beasley is our best option at left back, but there you have it.

And again, the two defensive mids just seems to fit the rest of our personnel.

Not least of which because... Bradley with the shackles off is our best player.

And nice timing Jozy.

Think we'll see...

Howard

Fab Cameron Besler Beasley

J Jones Beckerman

Zusi Bradley Clint

Jozy

I get why he's in there tactically, but Beckerman just has no talent. He can't even execute simple passes
He is not there to execute passes - he is doing his job well tonight
Exactly. Beckerman did exactly what he was suppose to tonight tactics wise. We know what he is and his best trait is his positional discipline. The lack of space in the middle was due to Beckerman.
I have loved Beckerman for years...i dont think he is completely void of talent (obviously) but he does what we ask and I like it. I dont have to worry about him.

Beckerman is very tidy with the ball normally. today, not as much- but he's got a ton of talent, just lacks the first step. And second step. And his tactical sense is pretty much only matched by Bradley.

I have no worries about this talent or executing passes- it's whether he can get to it in time with WC players breathing down his neck.

As Jermaine Jones biggest critic, he has been fantastic tonight. If he plays like this in the WC it could make a real difference.
I know Bradley and Jozy will win the accolades for the game, but Jones was amazing. Seems like if he knows EXACTLY what his role is (in this case, stay back and left above the back 4), the guy is lights out. For me, the MoM due to spacing, making smart easy passes (still too many- a few- poor passes), and endless workrate..

I could not agree more, and I may be one of Jones biggest fans here. But, I think his play had more to do with the setup than his specific play. Of the starters, I don't think any of them had a bad game. They all looked like they each had specific jobs to do, and they all focused on that. Everyone did their job, and nobody tried to do too much.
