I think Panama was much better suited to do damage here than Honduras... gutting how they missed out
Panama did not miss out in place of Honduras. They lost out to Mexico. Honduras came in 3rd.
Honduras beat the US and Costa Rica at home. They beat Mexico in the Azteca and tied with them at home. They had trouble with France, but given how France is kicking Swiss ###, it doesn't appear as bad as it did at the time. They earned their spot with no doubts and could surprise some people still.

That goal is big in terms of Honduras - it actually gives the Swiss the tiebreaker back if they draw the last match (assuming a Honduras win)

:wall: wifi connection at work has crashed!
Everything related to streaming is blocked at my workdesk. So I've been using a laptop to tap into the wifi connection provided for our "customers." This wifi is controlled by our Engineering department and evidently when they set it up, instead of pulling cables for the project they utilized a network of wires that were capped off and not being used. It seems these wires were put in place for a pending IT project which started today. IT disconnected the wifi from the cables they put out and told Engineering they would have to run wires for the wifi.

It was a fun week while I could watch. I guess I'll be getting more work done now. :kicksrock:
Data connection and the WatchESPN (or Univision) app on your smart phone?
I have a limited data plan.

So, uhh... Benzema pretty much put two goals in the net that did not count toward his total. Do you think he could touch Just's record?

This tournament is making a mockery of the FIFA rankings.
I thought the FIFA rankings were the mockery?
:goodposting: But in FIFA's defense, it simply isn't possible to have accurate rankings given the high turnover on teams (Donovan :hey: ), and infrequency that they play inter-federation games.
There are also regional advantages based on where the World Cup is held which are not factored in.
That does make you wonder what the European standing would be if half of the WC's in history were not played in Europe and were more evenly spread.

All I know is that Lalas really bugs me. The worst was when he blew Rooney yesterday, back to back.
was reading an article on how bad Gerrard played yesteday citing Rooney was the best player on the pitch... Was on Eurosport.
Nobody played very well for England yesterday. The player ratings I've seen had Rooney, Henderson and Sturridge at the top but only in the 6-6.5 range.

Even Gerrard was better than Lalas though.

agreed, they were less then great. But Rooney didnt play bad, despite the narrative.

eta I wouldnt also call him good by any means. At least not compared to what he could be or has been in the past.

Bah, I wasn't talking about how Rooney played. I'd just rather not hear Lalas repeatedly gush over how big Rooney's goal was, insisting it stamped him as world class. It was like England won. And he went back to it later in the telecast.

I agree. It wasnt like his goal was something anyone on this board couldnt of scored... Lalas just follows what ESPN tells him too.

No reverse angle on that? Sure looked like he had his arm out, but we couldn't see the ball hit it from that angle. Seems like both the ref and the linesman would have had a good look though.

Played more Ecuador to win at ht. Tore up field has me mildly concerned, but Honduras does not have the class of Ecuador. The chances they've produced have mostly been against the run of play and with long passes, bad touches. Ecuador should control pace again, and second half. Honduras will slow down. Plus, I don't think Honduras will end the match with 11 on the pitch.
