Why do people want Klinsmann replaced?
Before the tournament there were questions with his tactical knowledge and man management skills. His handling of Landon was poor.

But now there are no real issues as results win out over anything else. He will be the coach through 2018. He signed a 4 year deal back in December.

For those guys with strong club affiliations, where does the US game today rank in importance for you personally compared to an important game for your club side?
Beating MK Dons on August 12th will be unbelievably sweet but it's still just the League Cup.

Are all of you also referring to the USMNT as "we" or is cappella the only one?

Almost time for soccer tangent.
I never use we for any club team in any sport but I almost always do for the US Nats.

Technically speaking, we're all eligible for the USMNT here. Klinsmann could call you in to camp tomorrow, if he were so inclined.
Pretty sure charv is cap-tied.

Add in all the German Americans and the youth taken.. Also when he stated publicly that he didnt expect us to get out of the group it rubbed a lot of Americans the wrong way. The Anti Herb Brooks.

1st half update:

The Swiss attack and attack but it sloppy.

Argentina attacks less but with more precision. That one pass might just net a goal.

Argentina is fast. Each player is around the ball and willing to go get it. Geez.

Even with the increased exposure of the World Cup, the USA job is pretty low pressure. The national team coach in some countries gets criticized more than the Prime Minister.

He didn't say he didn't expect us to get out of the group. He said it was unrealistic to expect us to win the World Cup. He always said he expected us to get out of the group. Which is why guys like Lalas and Donovan both said, "hey, if we can get out of a group with Portugal and Germany, why can't we win the World Cup?"

I also think that any national team coach is vulnerable to be attacked for "hypocrisy." Which is stupid. If JK says that we want to play more attractive, possession-oriented soccer, there are inevitably people who ##### when we beat Ghana by closing shop with a 1 goal lead. If JK says he wants players to go to Europe for experience, he gets criticized if he takes DeAndre Yedlin over Tim Ream or something.

But in coaching, a foolish consistency really is the hobgoblin of little minds. You have to select and prepare your team the best way to win at any given time. Period.

Here's what I found for the 1st half. RIP GFYCAT (just for now I hope)

15' Wonderful play by Messi. The Argentina captain receives a pass just inside the Swiss half and with the ball bouncing up, he keeps the ball in the air and then knocks it between two defenders, who have no option but to nudge him over Mediacrush

26' Messi floats a delivery into the area from the free-kick, but Higuain's header goes comfortably over the crossbar. That is probably the best chance of the match so far, which says a lot. Mediacrush

28' BIG SAVE FROM ROMERO! Shaqiri does brilliantly down the right flank as he runs at Gago, produces a couple of stepovers and then breezes past his marker. The Bayern man cuts a pass back into the danger area and Xhaka sees his effort blocked by the goalkeeper towards the bottom-right corner. Mediacrush

39' DRMIC WITH A GREAT CHANCE! The forward races forward to collect a throughball from the halfway line and he is given so much space by Garay. He picks up possession on the edge of the area when one-on-one with Romero, who is no-man's land, but Drmic's chip attempt is dreadful and goes straight into the hands of the goalkeeper.Mediacrush

Any late info on the Belgium injuries?
This is from a Belgian reporter I've been on twitter the past couple years to keep track of CFC's Belgians:

Kristof Terreur @HLNinEngeland · 10m
RTBF leak Belgium XI: Courtois; Alderweireld, van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen; Witsel, Fellaini, De Bruyne; Mertens, Origi, Hazard.
If true, I would say they are attacking with all guns forward.
That's a lot of pressure on Origi

Mertens over Mirallas? Looks like they're definitely going for it.

nope, I'm pretty sure you get cap-tied per sport (but I could be wrong), and if that's the case I could play for the USMNT in football.

Yikes. Was hoping that Kompany and or Vertonghen would not be healthy enough to play.

For those keeping track of such things, at age 19, Origi is less than two months older than USMNT's Julian Green.

well, the source who broke this "leak", is now backing off somewhat, confirming that it is only "rumored"

Vertonghen particularly could be good for us though, and Kompany has shown a penchant for howlerish activity of late ...

If it makes you feel better, I also refer to canada soccer as "those losers".
OOOH Burn. You got me.

Canada is very happy to keep it on the ice where WE'VE been kicking your ### for quite some time.
And we're better at everything else. :bye:
 Coming from a hick who lives in TB. Have a nice life, loser! :bye:

Yeah, forgot the exact words, but it wasnt the "American Way" so it didnt go over well.

Plus, hasn't Fellaini been the SuperSub for them?
