Just a reminder, the winner of Switz Argie plays the winner of US Belgium on Saturday.
40 million viewers if that happens.
Yep. 4th of July weekend... America...in the round of 8 in the cup?!

Good lord, ESPN execs have tub o lube on order to use while they circle jerk with benjamins if that comes to fruition.
They might have to preempt the hot dog eating competition
Maybe we could cap Joey Chestnut.

Has to mentally exhausting for the Swiss right now.
Pressure goes both ways.
Indeed.

Ballack was talking about the play of Brasil after Saturday and said the pressure on the perennial powers (Brasil, Germany, Italy) is enormous at Group, round of sixteen and quarterfinal play. Once you're down to the final four, that fulfills the minimum expectation and you play looser. But before then its really difficult to overcome.

I THINK ABC gets the weekend games.... Hot Dogs will be bumped to ESPN. They'll live.

Is there any reason an occasional player wears different color cleats on each foot, or is it just an odd fashion choice
That's the Puma design for the Cup.
it's odd

but i am cool with it
back in the day wearing white shoes made you get picked last. Nothing but black shoes. Then the colors came out and now you have players wearing different colors on each foot....

give me my black Adidas Copa Mundials and I am happy

i assumed the bright colors are so that it looks cooler when they show a replay of your awesome dribbling skills

Bigger audience for US v. Argentina or US v. Switzerland?

US v Messi

On Saturday, the 12:00pm game is scheduled for ABC, the 4:00pm is scheduled for ESPN.

Both games break the most watched record but US Argie might draw a little more. This should be a huge number either way.

I tend to agree, but the lure of the US v. Switzerland match is the notion that the US could win - i think most would be more pessimistic against Argentina

US viewers are star ####ers. Even people who don't like or watch soccer know about Messi.

I think US fans are dumb enough to not know the difference. They seem to think we're favorites against Belgium. While they know Messi, they'll probably look at Switzerland taking them to OT and think the same thing.

Are all of you also referring to the USMNT as "we" or is cappella the only one?

Almost time for soccer tangent.
If it makes you feel better, I also refer to canada soccer as "those losers".
OOOH Burn. You got me.

Canada is very happy to keep it on the ice where WE'VE been kicking your ### for quite some time.
And we're better at everything else. :bye:
 Coming from a hick who lives in TB. Have a nice life, loser! :bye:
This is rich coming from the guy who has to brag to people on the internets about how rich he is to feed his shallow ego.Go start another Ferrari thread, we all are jealous.
If you had anything to brag about, I am sure we'd all know about it.

Instead, you seem to have focused your efforts on being an internet troll and bully extraordinaire. Congrats! Keep up the good work.

Can't believe Argentina hasn't scored in this game. Swiss have shown next to nothing.

Really hoping for the upset because the US is better than this Swiss team.

Well.....so much for that.

Well deserved though- Argentina by far the better team most of the match.

7.27pm BSTET 27 min: Messi runs around in a baroque manner, going absolutely nowhere. "Pope Francis better start saying his prayers for the penalties," suggests Justin Kavanagh. "He is reputed to always take the side of the poor, and Argentina have been that today."

lol

Feel bad for the Swiss keeper though- he's played brilliantly and almost had that one too.
