Ryan Nassib has thrown 4 TDs in the last 15 minutes (game time, not real time) and has brought Syracuse back from a 35-13 deficit to a 41-35 lead over Northwestern with 2 minutes left.Nassib is 42-57 for 459 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT. Daaaamn.
Wow. NW benches their starting QB and the backup leads a 75-yard drive (with the benefit of a generous but questionable personal foul) and throws a TD with 44 seconds left. Game tied at 41, NW PAT attempt upcoming after the TD is reviewed.

All-time rook-job on the late hit penalty. Guy was clearly inbounds.

Georgia not all that impressive today, although I heard half of their defense was benched. South Carolina didn't look that good the other night. Tennessee showing some impressive offense last night. I think the SEC East is up for grabs.

And Bowling Green takes the early 7-0 lead on the Gators....

Impressive TD there. Another Bowling Green player pulled the RB out of the pile and actually tackled the RB into the endzone.

Georgia was without five starters on defense and called a super-vanilla defensive gameplan so Im not concerned there. On offense, the two new freshman RB's looked incredible (especially Gurley) and Murray had a good day passing considering there were two TD drops in the endzone. The biggest problem IMO was the OL, which lost three starters from last year and had difficulty protecting the passer. They also suffered two injuries today which makes a suspect Line even more worrying.Agree though about Tennessee looking like a darkhorse this year. Their offense looked legit last night. I also wonder how good Missou is; no idea what to expect next week in their SEC opener.

We'll know in a bit when they host SE Louisiana. I think they'll be ok this year, but they can be their worst enemy at times.
Whats the prognosis for them this year? I think they lost their starting RB to injury, but I imagine their offense will still be stellar no? And how is their defense?

USC - come on man!

USC is no stranger to being in hot water with the NCAA and may find themselves in the same spot once again following an LA Times report that claims a figure in an ongoing corruption scandal said he gave cash and perks "worth thousands of dollars" to two athletes while they were still in school.

The allegations are contained among hundreds of Scott Schenter's county work emails that suggest the former appraiser provided football star Joe McKnight with a car and an airline ticket, and basketball player Davon Jefferson with about $3,700 in cash. The Times obtained the emails from the assessor's office under the California Public Records Act.

The NCAA has apparently already been notified of the allegations by the Trojan administration.

Schenter, currently charged with giving improper tax breaks as part of a growing scandal, has had a run-in with USC and the NCAA before. In 2009, his relationship with McKnight was looked into after the running back was seen by an LA Times reporter driving a Land Rover registered to the Schenter. The school and NCAA investigated but no violation was brought forward.

"When allegations regarding Joe McKnight's use of a Land Rover arose in 2009, USC fully investigated the matter. All of the information related to the investigation was sent to the NCAA. The NCAA staff accepted the report, and no violation was processed," athletic director Pat Haden said in a statement. "We have just learned of new allegations presented by a reporter from the Los Angeles Times. We have discussed those allegations with the NCAA and PAC-12, and we will thoroughly investigate them and take any and all necessary actions."

The Times obtained an email from Delta Air Lines to Schenter from 2008 that was apparently a receipt for a $625 flight with a passenger listed as "Joe McKnight."

It's unclear why Schenter would help the two athletes, or where the $80,000 per year property appraiser would have obtained the money. But in the emails, Schenter says he was trying to start several private business ventures and hoped Jefferson and McKnight would help him market them. His connection, if any, to USC is also unclear. He describes himself in the emails as a fan of the University of Washington, a Pac 12 rival to USC.

Schenter has pleaded not guilty to 60 counts of falsifying records but faces significant jail time if convicted for his role in the corruption scandal at the L.A. assessor's office.

USC is currently ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll and are still on NCAA probation from the Reggie Bush case. The Trojans open the 2012 season, their first in two years where they are eligible for the postseason, against Hawaii on Saturday evening.

U$C should get a very significant punishment in about 5 years when the NCAA concludes their investigation.

They do return their starting QB James Franklin (not to be confused with Vandy's head coach) as well as some key pieces on the O-Line and WR. They also added the #1 recruit in the entire freaking nation this past class in WR Dorial Green-Beckham. Time will tell what the 6'6, 220 man-beast will provide in his freshman year this year. Run defense was 29th in the nation last year, but there was a bit of turnover on the defensive line due to graduation. D should be fine, offense should be as well if the new faces can mesh.Overall, 9-3 or 8-4 with the No. 5 or 6 SEC bowl selection isn't out of the realm of possibility. They'll go bowling and they've had success against the SEC in the past (and have made Texas A&M their ##### the past couple years).

Clemson Coach: "Son we need to discuss your pass coverage skills because it looks like you lost them somewhere on the way to this field today, now you go sit down on that there bench and find them."

How long before someone is accused of deliberately ripping off a helmet to take a star offensive player out of the game in a key situation?

Mizzou up 28-0 late in 1st quarter against SE Louisiana. Defense has 14 points, offense has 14 points. I think they'll be fine this year.

ABC acting weird for anyone? It was cutting back and forth with the Clemson/Auburn game, then showed Michigan rewinding and running from the tunnel, and then the sound was off for like 2 minutes.

Just did that to me. Week 1 of college football = preseason for networks.

:goodposting:
It's going to happen in every single pile. Stupid rule
I've seen that list of rules multiple times today and I'm confused (though also slightly drunk). Anyway, if I was a defensive coach, you have to tell your guys to try and rip helmets off without being called for a penalty - defense, too.

OK, THESE CARS.COM COMMERCIALS ARE GETTING FLAT OUT WEIRD.

Only thing I can comment on in this Oregon blowout.

TJ Moe said this was the best team chemistry he's ever seen - but losing Josey will hurt because I am not sure Kendial Lawrence ccan be a workhorse. Defense should be better than last year. Worst case scenario is 6-6, best case is 9-3...but I am thinking 8-4 sounds about right...have to remember new conference means they will have to learn all new opponents, whereas the opponents only have to learn them. Similar to Nebraska in the Big 10 last year - but in a much tougher conference. Have to figure losses to Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina...and toss ups games with Florida, Arizona State and a few other SEC opponents. Tonight's game told me nothing really as it was an FCS school.

Anyone see the stat line for Oregon's freshman QB Marcus Mariota?

18-20, 194 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT

3-15 on the ground.

In his first college start. Oh, there are 8 minutes left in the 2nd Q.

Kelly said he is the most dangerous QB he's ever had. This game is such a blowout, he's not doing much running, but I can't wait to see when he NEEDS to run. They say he can absolutely fly. Long strides; reminds me of Colin Kaepernick. Looks deadly accurate too.

Must be nice.

I thought that too. Finally a TD from Arkansas St. WHY AM I STILL WATCHING THIS?

Same reason you slow down driving by a car crash. We want to see if they can hang a hundy on Arkansas St.
