Alabama: Georgia State, Chattanooga

Florida: Toledo, Georgia Southern

LSU: Furman (LSU decided this year it was so shameful to play these lower division teams that they only scheduled one- instead, they face powerhouses like Kent State and UAB.)

Would be much better to schedule a powerhouse like New Mexico St.

New Mexico St. is an FBS school and it's a lot more palatable to have them on the schedule when you also play Nevada and @Nebraska in the other two OOC games.

Do you want to trade with Florida so you can play cupcakes like FSU and Miami instead?

It wouldn't fit on UCLA's schedule. The Pac-12 plays 9 regular season conference games compared to the SEC's 8.

Florida wouldn't do it anyway. They don't leave the state unless the SEC forces them to.

What on earth has Miami done in the last few years to garner that sort of treatment? FSU? Okay...but Miami? They ain't what they used to be...

Well they were tied for the division in the ####ty ACC. But I'd put money on them beating a team like Nevada easily.

I'd say the Colin Kapernick era Wolf Pack would have beaten any iteration of the Randy Shannon Hurricanes, but as far as this year, I'd say you're probably correct.

Kapernick's Nevada was fun to watch. They're upset over Boise a few years back was crazy.

I think Duke Johnson is going to have a big year in Miami.

I think you are looking at the wrong schedule. Florida plays UGA, Vandy, South Car, Ga South, and Florida State in November. There is no bye. if you are trying to call Ga Southern a bye, it's fair to say it's a patsy game but I'm not sure there are many schools that could even pretend to have a tougher November slate. Three of those games were vs teams that finished in the top 10 last year and Vandy also finished ranked.

Sporting News: Current athletic directors will be used on the playoff committee, an industry source told Sporting News Wednesday a direct reversal from public statements made in May by CFP executive director Bill Hancock.

It now appears as the though the selection committee will consist of one athletic director from each of the five power conferences, former coaches and players and possibly former media members.

Wonder how many people end up on the committee. I'm very encouraged by the final comments:

While current polls won’t be used in the process, there is concern among some in the working CFP group that failing to release a weekly ranking will allow the Associated Press and coaches polls – two polls that had defined the game for decades – to direct the narrative and therefore minimize the CFP poll.

But I'm not sure how it would minimize the committee. It doesn't matter how frequently they release a poll compared to the others. What they say goes. I think most would be fine with letting the CFP poll coming out beginning - mid October and going weekly from there.

Well, the scenario I thought of is some team like Houston going through the regular season undefeated even though their SOS is nothing to write home about. There could be pressure (applied through polls) to include them in the NCC.

If they can do this transparently, it shouldn't be an issue. If they are upfront with their criteria and apply it the way they say they will, I'm fine with completely ignoring the AP and Coaches Polls....wouldn't be able to care less what they said

I don't see anything wrong with scheduling MAC or MWC schools under any circumstances. If you want to complain about Florida A&M, fine, but nothing wrong with playing teams like Buffalo, SDSU, Northern Illinois, San Jose St., Tulsa, etc.

I'm looking at the correct schedule. I probably shouldn't call the "game" against Georgia Southern a bye. It's more of a scrimmage.

Schedules are made years in advance. This time last year OSU was coming off a 6-7 season, had a new coach for a second year in a row, and was penalized by the NCAA. That's not exactly the moment in time the AD wants to go out and schedule four top 25 teams for the non-conference portion of the season.

As an OSU fan, I'm in the minority in how well I expect OSU to do this year. I'm expecting 3 losses before a bowl game. Last year's 12 wins was awesome, but 3 of those games could have been easily been lost with one simple mistake, if not 4. OSU is overrated right now.

I'm not suggesting that their areas help the Rices of the world in terms of getting the talent. Like UNC and Duke scheduling games against LMU or UCSB, etc., in basketball, it helps UCLA continue to recruit well in that area to be able to tell those recruits that they will be playing near their hometowns at least once during their 3-5 years at UCLA.

UCLA has always done well in Texas and part of the reason (supposedly) is they seemingly play in Texas against someone every other year or every few years.

Why shouldn't three of those teams be on the schedule? The only one I see is Florida A&M.

Not that they need any help in recruiting, but scheduling Cal and SDSU makes a lot of sense.

Florida does have tough schedule on paper. I'm not denying that at all. So does UCLA. But, "at least 15 spots" ahead? I don't know about that. And, I'll always knock a program that is as good as Florida or Alabama for playing one or multiple FCS opponents. It's unnecessary.

Phil Steele also had Notre Dame with the toughest schedule prior to 2012. Sagarin had them at 21 to end the season.

Nope, just saying that I wouldn't exactly put them in the category of a UAB. They were better than several Big Ten teams last season -- such as Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana and Purdue -- and also handily beat a ranked Rutgers team on the road.

LSU probably would be at least 20-point favorites at home against half the teams in FBS. They're already -18 vs. Auburn and -17 vs. Arkansas.

I missed the fact that you also think Toledo is a "lower division" team ... since they're in the same league as Kent State, and had a win against Big East co-champ Cincinnati last season. (I'll give you a pass on Georgia State, since they just moved up for this season.)
