The gators and hurricanes can both eat ####. #### supporting the state.
I get that, really.  I was the same growing up, but changed my perspective as an adult where I came to defend schools in my state when I was always surrounded by Ohio State fans, or Florida State fans, or Michigan fans, and so on.  Walk a mile in another man's shoes or something, I guess.

Florida could be viewed differently as those 3 schools have all had major success in college football.  That can't be said for SC as neither team has really been a national power to this point (Clemson won in 1981).  With what Sweeney's doing at Clemson in terms of recruiting, they could be a perennial power.  But for now, I am happy for national prominence from either Clemson or USC.

Yeah, that makes sense. We can all be friends over some Rockaways, just don't start that cadence count.
Last time I went through Columbia on the way NC, we stopped at Rockaways.  Having their pimento cheeseburger a block away for 6 years was not good for me!  Between that and being a mile or two from Publick House's buttery barbecue wings and life was good.

Come on, man.  Support the state.  I grew up in Greenville, mostly Clemson territory.  Now live near Columbia and I support the Gamecocks too.  Spent much of my adult life in the military and have lived in different parts of the country.  During that time I learned to support all schools in the state.  My son graduated from Clemson a few years ago.
Negative.  Not going to happen. I've always been a Carolina fan and always will be. I will always pull against Clemson. I can't stand Ohio State, pulled for them over Clemson. Can't stand Alabama, pulled for them over Clemson last year, and will this time.

Any sport, any opponent, every time.

Random question: Why did they choose a stadium used by an NFL team for this game, given the possibility of a home playoff game tearing up the turf 24-48 hours before the national championship?  Did they just say "eh, it's the Bucs, what are the odds"?

Been wondering about this all week.  I'm sure there's some obvious explanation I'm missing.

Rumor is that Alabama offensive line coach Cristobal could be going to Oregon for same position or offensive cordinator.   Have any of you Bama guys heard this?

They were laying new turf down for this game either way. My understanding is they only needed 36 hours.

I'm all for it, but why are assistants leaving a perennial champion with an enormous paycheck for a rebuild job?  Challenge?  Boredom?  Want out of Alabama?

Cristobal wants to get back to being a HC after flaming out at FIU. He could probably get a lower level G5 job coming off being Alabama's OL coach but he won't get a shot at a P5 job unless he takes a bigger role somewhere.

This all puts a different spin on choking Lamar too...
I don't know if you were referring to the guy that I quoted, or just the Clemson D in general, but the guy that I quoted WAS the guy that put Jackson in that ridiculous chokehold.  That's not football, that's bull#### dirty play.

I think as someone mentioned above the step up to oc could get him closer to being a head coach.  Taggert is putting together a very good staff.  He negotiated for extra money for his assistant coaches and the ones he has brought so far have been very aggressive recruiters.   Oregon has a huge number of 4 star recruits now visiting in January and it just shows me Helfrich and his staff got complacent with recruiting.   I am liking Taggert more and more.

From what I've read, they also used giant turf rolls...which helps.  The key is we need dry and warm weather ideally.  We're getting a little rain...and a little cold.  But hopefully still ok.  Regardless it won't be as bad as the mess in Pasadena.

The rumors are out there but no one from Bama is confirming...he's a fantastic recruiter...especially with OL, so while it was inevitable he'd leave soon it is a worry about holding this class together (though Leatherwood reporting early helps).  It would be a great get for Taggert.

You going?

Just saw a billboard in Tampa.

"The American Conference welcomes you to Tampa" then a hashtag of #Americanpower6

The American champ just got rolled by Wake Forest in the Military Bowl.

#^]**£{€^ hell $**{% yes.

Honestly I'm appreciative of the chance to experience it my hometown.  5 years ago you allow yourself to dream a little and now it's here.  I've got family and friends coming, activities with them Fri and Sat, then I'm getting in game mode...hunting down some press conference or other access.  Then tailgate starts at 1 on Mon.  Going to be memorable win or lose.

A little worried about travel thru Atlanta...could cause some chaos.

Awesome. I really hoped all year FSU would make it for that reason. I want to go but I can't justify those costs for two teams I don't care about.

I know a few Bucs regulars who are tailgating, then going home for game. Nothing crazy to experience I don't think though.  Dontown St Pete should be hopping. Downtown Tampa will be a zoo.

If the storm does wreak havoc I guess it could bring prices down, but everything I hear is they are still high.

I didn't think you could get to the stadium w/o a ticket.

So I see on ESPN crawl that Charlie Strong hired Sterlin Gilbert as his OC at Florida Something.  That seem strange to me...why would you recreate any part of the staff at Texas that failed miserably?  Am I overthinking this?

Guy from my HS, who later was one of my softball teammates, was BC's starting quarterback for two seasons. I still didn't root for them.

Gilbert and his OL coach buddy, whose name escapes me, actually did a pretty nice job last season. Strong's offenses his first two years were the tire fire.

Of course as soon as the offense improved, the wheels fell off the defense.
